Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4971
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that whoever prays at the beginning of the night, then he should make his last prayer of the night Witr because that is what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to advise.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جو شخص رات کے آغاز میں نماز پڑھے تو اسے چاہئے کہ رات کو اپنی سب سے آخری نماز وتر کو بنائے کیونکہ نبی ﷺ اسی کی تلقین فرماتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ:" وَمَنْ صَلَّى مِنْ أَوَّلِ اللَّيْلِ، فَلْيَجْعَلْ آخِرَ صلاَتِهِ وِتْرًا، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِذَلِكَ".
