Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5221
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When the Jews greet you, they say, 'As-Samu 'alaikum' (death be upon you), so you should say, 'Wa 'alaikum' (and upon you)."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جب یہودی تمہیں ملتے ہیں تو وہ «السام عليكم» کہتے ہیں لہٰذا تم «وعليكم» کہہ دیا کرو (تم پر موت طاری ہو)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Jab yeh Yahodi tumhein milte hain to woh «Assalamu Alaikum» kahte hain lihaza tum «Wa Alaikum» keh diya karo (tum par maut tari ho).“
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا لَقُوكُمْ، قَالُوا: السَّامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقُولُوا: وَعَلَيْكُمْ".
