Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5275
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade making vows, saying that it does not change the decree of Allah at all, however, it is only a way to extract wealth from a stingy person.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے منت ماننے سے منع کرتے ہوئے فرمایا ہے کہ اس سے تقدیر کا تو کوئی فیصلہ بھی نہیں ٹلتا، البتہ بخیل آدمی سے اسی طرح مال نکلوایا جاتا ہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mannat maangne se mana karte hue farmaya hai ki is se taqdeer ka to koi faisla bhi nahi talta, albatta bakhil aadmi se isi tarah maal nikalwaya jata hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ النَّذْرِ، وَقَالَ:" إِنَّهُ لَا يَرُدُّ مِنَ الْقَدَرِ شَيْئًا، وَإِنَّمَا يُسْتَخْرَجُ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَخِيلِ".
