Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5282
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would take an oath of allegiance on the condition of listening and obeying, then he would say: "To the best of your ability." (That is, you will listen and obey as much as you can).

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے بات سننے اور اطاعت کر نے کی شرط پر بیعت لیا کرتے تھے پھر فرماتے تھے کہ حسب استطاعت، (جہاں تک ممکن ہو گا تم بات سنو گے اور مانو گے)۔
Sayyda Ibn Umar RA se marvi hai ke Nabi SAW ne baat sunne aur ita'at karne ki shart par bai'at liya karte thay phir farmate thay ke hasb istita'at, (jahan tak mumkin ho ga tum baat suno ge aur mano ge).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، وَشُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كُنَّا إِذَا بَايَعْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ يُلَقِّنُنَا، أَوْ يُلَقِّفُنَا:" فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتَ".
