Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5308
It is narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that regarding what clothes one can wear in Muharram, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not wear a shirt, trousers, cap, turban, or socks unless you do not have shoes. Whoever does not have shoes should cut their socks below the ankles and wear them. Similarly, do not wear clothes that have been dyed with saffron or Wars (a type of grass)."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ محرم کون سا لباس پہن سکتا ہے؟ اس کے متعلق نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ تم قمیض، شلوار، ٹوپی، عمامہ اور موزے نہ پہنو الاّ یہ کہ جوتے نہ ملیں، جس شخص کو جوتے نہ ملیں اسے چاہئے کہ وہ موزوں کو ٹخنوں سے نیچے کاٹ کر پہن لے، اسی طرح ایسا کپڑا جس پر ورس نامی گھاس یا زعفران لگی ہوئی ہو وہ بھی نہ پہنو۔
Saina Ibne Umar Radi Allaho Anhuma se marvi hai keh muharram kon sa libas pehen sakta hai? Iss k mutalliq Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya keh tum qameez, shalwar, topi, amama aur mozay na pehno illa yeh keh joote na milein, jiss shakhs ko joote na milein usay chahiye keh woh mozon ko takhno se neeche kaat kar pehen le, isi tarah aisa kapra jiss per wars nami ghaas ya zafraan lagi hui ho woh bhi na pehno.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فِيمَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ، قَالَ:" لَا تَلْبَسُوا الْقُمُصَ، وَلَا الْعَمَائِمَ، وَلَا الْبَرَانِسَ، وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَاتِ، وَلَا الْخِفَافَ، إِلَّا مَنْ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ، فَيَقْطَعُهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ، وَلَا تَلْبَسُوا مِنَ الثِّيَابِ مَا مَسَّهُ وَرْسٌ أَوْ زَعْفَرَانٌ".
