Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5384
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a battle. During the battle, people started fleeing in fear, and I was among them. Later, we started thinking, "What will happen now? We turned our backs on the battlefield and fled, incurring Allah's wrath." Then we said, "Let's go to Madinah and spend the night there. We will present ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). If he accepts us, then very well, otherwise, we will go back to fight." So, we presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) before the Fajr prayer. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out of his house, he said, "Who are these people?" We replied, "Those who fled." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "No, rather you are those who will return to attack. I am a group among you, and I am a whole group of Muslims." Then we stepped forward and kissed the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ کسی جہاد میں شریک تھا، لوگ دوران جنگ گھبرا کر بھاگنے لگے، ان میں میں بھی شامل تھا، بعد میں ہم لوگ سوچنے لگے کہ اب کیا ہو گا؟ ہم تو میدان جنگ سے پشت پھیر کر بھاگے اور اللہ کا غضب لے کر لوٹے ہیں، پھر ہم کہنے لگے کہ مدینہ منورہ چل کر رات وہیں گزارتے ہیں، نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں پیش ہو جائیں گے، اگر تو یہ قبول ہو گئی تو بہت اچھا ورنہ دوبارہ قتال کے لئے روانہ ہو جائیں گے، چنانچہ ہم لوگ نماز فجر سے پہلے نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو گئے، نبی ﷺ گھر سے باہر تشریف لائے تو فرمایا: ”کون لوگ ہو؟“ ہم نے عرض کیا فرار ہو کر بھاگنے والے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”نہیں، بلکہ تم پلٹ کر حملہ کر نے والے ہو، میں تمہاری ایک جماعت ہوں اور میں مسلمانوں کی ایک پوری جماعت ہوں“، پھر ہم نے آگے بڑھ کر نبی ﷺ کے دست مبارک کو بوسہ دیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki aik martaba mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath kisi jihad mein shareek tha, log dauran jang ghabra kar bhaagne lage, in mein mein bhi shamil tha, baad mein hum log sochne lage ki ab kya hoga? hum to maidan jang se pusht phir kar bhaage aur Allah ka ghazab lekar lote hain, phir hum kehne lage ki Madina Munawwara chal kar raat wahin guzarte hain, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein pesh ho jayenge, agar to yeh qubool ho gai to bahut achcha warna dobara qatal ke liye rawana ho jayenge, chunancha hum log namaz fajr se pehle Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir ho gaye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ghar se bahar tashreef laaye to farmaya: ”Kaun log ho?“ hum ne arz kiya firar ho kar bhaagne wale, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Nahin, balki tum palat kar hamla karne wale ho, mein tumhari ek jamaat hun aur mein Musalmanon ki ek poori jamaat hun“, phir hum ne aage badh kar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke dast mubarak ko bosa diya.
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ مِنْ سَرَايَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَحَاصَ النَّاسُ حَيْصَةً، وَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَاصَ، فَقُلْنَا: كَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ وَقَدْ فَرَرْنَا مِنَ الزَّحْفِ وَبُؤْنَا بِالْغَضَبِ؟! ثُمَّ قُلْنَا: لَوْ دَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَبِتْنَا، ثُمَّ قُلْنَا: لَوْ عَرَضْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ تَوْبَةٌ، وَإِلَّا ذَهَبْنَا، فَأَتَيْنَاهُ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ، فَخَرَجَ، فَقَالَ:" مَنْ الْقَوْمُ؟" قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا: نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ! قَالَ:" لَا، بَلْ أَنْتُمْ الْعَكَّارُونَ، أَنَا فِئَتُكُمْ، وَأَنَا فِئَةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ"، قَالَ: فَأَتَيْنَاهُ حَتَّى قَبَّلْنَا يَدَهُ.
