Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5421
Once, Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw a man playing during prayer. Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to him: "Do not play in prayer, for it is the work of Satan, and do as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do." The narrator says that then Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) placed his left hand on his left knee and his right hand on his right knee and began to point with his finger.

ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے ایک آدمی کو دوران نماز کھیلتے ہوئے دیکھا، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے اس سے فرمایا: نماز میں مت کھیلو کیونکہ یہ شیطانی کام ہے اور اسی طرح کرو جیسے نبی ﷺ کرتے تھے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں کہ پھر سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بایاں ہاتھ بائیں گھٹنے پر اور دایاں ہاتھ دائیں گھٹنے پر رکھ لیا اور انگلی سے اشارہ کرنے لگے۔
Ek martaba Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne ek aadmi ko dauran namaz khelte huye dekha, Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne us se farmaya: Namaz mein mat khelo kyonki yeh shaitani kaam hai aur isi tarah karo jaise Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) karte thay. Ravi kehte hain ki phir Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne baayan haath baayen ghutne par aur daayan haath daayen ghutne par rakh liya aur ungli se ishara karne lage.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُعَاوِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا صَلَّى إِلَى جَنْبِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَجَعَلَ يَعْبَثُ بِالْحَصَى، فَقَالَ: لَا تَعْبَثْ بِالْحَصَى، فَإِنَّهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، وَلَكِنْ اصْنَعْ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ، قَالَ هَكَذَا، وَأَرَانَا وُهَيْبٌ، وَصَفَهُ عَفَّانُ:" وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى، وَبَسَطَ أَصَابِعَهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى، وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُمْنَى، وَكَأَنَّهُ عَقَدَ، وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ".
