Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5461
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to separate the Witr and the two rak'ahs before it with a Salam, and we would hear the sound of his Salam.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ وتر اور دو رکعتوں کے ددرمیان سلام کے ذریعے فصل فرماتے تھے اور سلام کی آواز ہمارے کانوں میں آتی تھی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) witr aur do rakaton ke darmiyan salam ke zariye fasl farmate the aur salam ki aawaz humare kaanon mein aati thi.
حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ يَعْنِي السُّكَّرِيَّ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يَعْنِي الصَّائِغَ ، عَنِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَ الْوَتْرِ وَالشَّفْعِ بِتَسْلِيمَةٍ، وَيُسْمِعُنَاهَا".
