Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5620
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wearing white clothes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "Are your clothes new or washed?". I do not remember what he replied to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, and die a martyr's death," and perhaps he also said, "May Allah grant you coolness to the eyes in this world and the hereafter.".

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو سفید لباس زیب تن کئے ہوئے دیکھا, نبی ﷺ نے ان سے پوچھا کہ آپ کے کپڑے نئے ہیں یا دھلے ہوئے ہیں؟ مجھے یاد نہیں رہا کہ انہوں نے نبی ﷺ کو کیا جواب دیا، البتہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”نئے کپڑے پہنو، قابل تعریف زندگی گزارو، اور شہیدوں والی موت پاؤ اور غالباً یہ بھی فرمایا کہ اللہ تمہیں دنیا و آخرت میں آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک عطاء فرمائے۔“
Sayyedna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sayyedna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko safaid libas zeb tan kiye huye dekha, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne un se pucha ki aap ke kapray naye hain ya dhoye huye hain? Mujhe yaad nahi raha ki unhon ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko kya jawab diya, albatta Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Naye kapray pehno, qabil e tareef zindagi guzaar, aur shaheedon wali mout pao aur ghaliban ye bhi farmaya ki Allah tumhen dunya o akhirat mein aankhon ki thandak ata farmaye.“.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُمَرَ ثَوْبًا أَبْيَضَ، فَقَالَ:" أَجَدِيدٌ ثَوْبُكَ أَمْ غَسِيلٌ؟" فَقَالَ: فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا، وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا، وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا"، أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ:" وَيَرْزُقُكَ اللَّهُ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ".
