Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5899
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked: O Messenger of Allah! How many times should I forgive a slave? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent. He asked the same question again. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent. When he asked for the third time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Forgive him seventy times a day."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک آدمی نے بارگاہ رسالت میں حاضر ہو کر عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ!! کسی غلام سے کتنی مرتبہ درگزر کی جائے؟ نبی ﷺ خاموش رہے، اس نے پھر یہی سوال کیا، نبی ﷺ خاموش رہے تیسری مرتبہ پوچھنے پر نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اس سے روزانہ ستر مرتبہ درگزر کیا جائے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek aadmi ne bargah risalat mein hazir ho kar arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah!! Kisi ghulam se kitni martaba darguzar ki jaye? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khamosh rahe, usne phir yahi sawal kiya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khamosh rahe teesri martaba puchne par Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Iss se rozana satar martaba darguzar kiya jaye."
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ جُلَيْدٍ الْحَجْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَمْ يُعْفَى عَنِ الْمَمْلُوكِ؟ قَالَ: فَصَمَتَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَ، فَصَمَتَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَ، فَقَالَ:" يُعْفَى عَنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً".
