Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6029
Narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying on the pulpit: "Your lifespan compared to the previous nations is like the time between the afternoon prayer and sunset. The people of the Torah were given the Torah and they acted upon it until midday, then they failed, so they were given one Qirat (reward) each. Then the people of the Gospel were given the Gospel and they acted upon it until the afternoon, then they failed, so they were given one Qirat (reward) each. Then you were given the Quran and you acted upon it until sunset, so you were given two Qirats (rewards) each." Upon this, the people of the Torah and the Gospel said, "O Lord! These people have done less work but have received more reward." Allah said, "Have I oppressed you in your wages?" They said, "No." Allah said, "Then I bestow My favor upon whom I will."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو برسرمنبریہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ گزشتہ لوگوں کے مقابلے میں تمہاری بقاء کی مدت اتنی ہے جیسے عصر اور مغرب کا درمیانی وقت ہوتا ہے، تورات والوں کو تورات دی گئی چنانچہ انہوں نے اس پر عمل کیا لیکن نصف النہار کے وقت وہ اس سے عاجز آگئے لہٰذا انہیں ایک ایک قیراط دے دیا گیا، پھر انجیل والوں کو انجیل دی گئی اور انہوں نے اس پر عصرتک عمل کیا لیکن پھر وہ بھی عاجز آگئے لہٰذا انہیں بھی ایک ایک قیراط دے دیا گیا پھر تمہیں قرآن دیا گیا اور تم نے مغرب تک اس پر عمل کیا چنانچہ تمہیں دو دو قیراط دے دیئے گئے اس پر اہل تورات و انجیل کہنے لگے پروردگار! ان لوگوں نے محنت تھوڑی کی لیکن انہیں اجر زیادہ ملا اللہ نے فرمایا: کیا میں نے تمہاری مزدوری میں تم پر کچھ ظلم کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا نہیں، اللہ نے فرمایا: پھر میں اپنا فضل جسے چاہوں عطاء کر دوں۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko barsar mimbariyah farmate huye suna hai ki guzastha logon ke muqabile mein tumhari baqa ki muddat itni hai jaise asr aur maghrib ka darmiyani waqt hota hai, torat walon ko torat di gayi chunanche unhon ne is par amal kya lekin nisf un nihar ke waqt woh is se aajiz aa gaye lihaza unhen ek ek qirat de diya gaya, phir injeel walon ko injeel di gayi aur unhon ne is par asr tak amal kya lekin phir woh bhi aajiz aa gaye lihaza unhen bhi ek ek qirat de diya gaya phir tumhen quran diya gaya aur tum ne maghrib tak is par amal kya chunanche tumhen do do qirat de diye gaye is par ahl e torat o injeel kahne lage parwardigaar! in logon ne mehnat thori ki lekin unhen ajr zyada mila Allah ne farmaya: kya maine tumhari mazdori mein tum par kuch zulm kya hai? unhon ne kaha nahi, Allah ne farmaya: phir main apna fazl jise chahon ataa kar dun.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ , يَقُولُ:" أَلَا إِنَّ بَقَاءَكُمْ فِيمَا سَلَفَ قَبْلَكُمْ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ كَمَا بَيْنَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ، أُعْطِيَ أَهْلُ التَّوْرَاةِ التَّوْرَاةَ، فَعَمِلُوا بِهَا، حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَصَفَ النَّهَارُ عَجَزُوا، فَأُعْطُوا قِيرَاطًا قِيرَاطًا، وَأُعْطِيَ أَهْلُ الْإِنْجِيلِ الْإِنْجِيلَ، فَعَمِلُوا بِهِ حَتَّى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ، ثُمَّ عَجَزُوا، فَأُعْطُوا قِيرَاطًا قِيرَاطًا، ثُمَّ أُعْطِيتُمْ الْقُرْآنَ، فَعَمِلْتُمْ بِهِ حَتَّى غَرَبَتْ الشَّمْسُ، فَأُعْطِيتُمْ قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ، فَقَالَ أَهْلُ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ: رَبَّنَا هَؤُلَاءِ أَقَلُّ عَمَلًا وَأَكْثَرُ أَجْرًا، فَقَالَ: هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ أَجْرِكُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟ فَقَالُوا: لَا، فَقَالَ:" فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ".
