Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6063
Bishr ibn Harb said: I asked Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: “O Abu Abdur Rahman! How is the prayer of a traveler?” He replied: “If you act upon the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then I will tell you, otherwise I will not tell you.” We said: “O Abu Abdur Rahman! The best way is the Sunnah of our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.” He said: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, whenever he left this city, he would not pray more than two rak'ahs until he returned.”

بشر بن حرب کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ اے ابوعبدالرحمن! مسافر کی نماز کس طرح ہوتی ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: اگر تم نبی ﷺ کی سنت پر عمل کرو تو میں تمہیں بتادوں، نہ کروں تو نہ بتاؤں؟ ہم نے عرض کیا کہ اے ابوعبدالرحمن! بہترین طریقہ ہمارے نبی ﷺ کی سنت ہی تو ہے انہوں نے فرمایا: کہ نبی ﷺ جب اس شہر سے نکلتے تھے تو واپس آنے تک دو رکعتوں سے زیادہ نہ پڑھتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ , كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ الْمُسَافِرِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ فَقَالَ: أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَتَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ، وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ لَا تَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ، لَمْ أُخْبِرْكُمْ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا: فَخَيْرُ السُّنَنِ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَقَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا".
