Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6348
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would sit in Tashahhud (sitting posture during prayer), he would place both his hands on both his knees and raise his index finger and supplicate, and he would keep his left hand spread on his left knee.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ جب تشہد میں بیٹھتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ دونوں گھٹنوں پر رکھ لیتے اور انگوٹھے کے ساتھ والی انگلی کو بلند کر لیتے اور دعاء فرماتے اور بائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں گھٹنے پر بچھا کر رکھتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab tashud mein bethte to apne donon hathon donon ghutnon par rakh lete aur angoothe ke sath wali ungli ko buland kar lete aur dua farmate aur bayen hath ko bayen ghutne par bichha kar rakhte the.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" كَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَرَفَعَ أُصْبُعَهُ الْيُمْنَى الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ، فَدَعَا بِهَا، وَيَدُهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، بَاسِطَهَا عَلَيْهَا".
