Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6418
Narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), that while in Ji'ranah, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "I made a vow in the pre-Islamic period that I would observe I'tikaf (seclusion) in Masjid al-Haram, what should I do?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed him to fulfill his vow. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) set off. While he was offering prayer, he heard people saying that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had released the prisoners of Badr. Upon hearing this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also set his slave free.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جعرانہ میں سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی کریم ﷺ سے پوچھا کہ میں نے زمانہ جاہلیت میں منت مانی تھی کہ مسجد حرام میں اعتکاف کروں گا؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے انہیں اپنی منت پوری کر نے کا حکم دیا اور سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ وہاں سے روانہ ہو گئے ابھی وہ نماز پڑھ ہی رہے تھے کہ انہوں نے لوگوں کو یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ہوازن کے قیدیوں کو آزاد کر دیا چنانچہ انہوں نے اپنے غلام کو بھی آزاد کر دیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Jairana mein Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha ki maine zamana jahiliyat mein mannat maani thi ki Masjid Haram mein aitkaf karoon ga? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen apni mannat puri karne ka hukum diya aur Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) wahan se rawana ho gaye abhi wo namaz parh hi rahe the ki unhon ne logon ko ye kahte huye suna ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hawazin ke qaidion ko azad kar diya chunancha unhon ne apne ghulam ko bhi azad kar diya.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، وَعَفَّانُ , قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ , سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْجِعِرَّانَةِ , فَقَالَ: إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ؟ قَالَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَمَعَهُ غُلَامٌ مِنْ سَبْيِ هَوَازِنَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ:" اذْهَبْ فَاعْتَكِفْ"، فَذَهَبَ، فَاعْتَكَفَ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يُصَلِّي إِذْ سَمِعَ النَّاسَ , يَقُولُونَ: أَعْتَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْيَ هَوَازِنَ، فَدَعَا الْغُلَامَ فَأَعْتَقَهُ.
