Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6761
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Abdullah Ibn 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to know that I used to say that I will always fast during the day and stand in prayer at night. Once, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Is it you who says that he will stand in prayer every night and fast every day?" I submitted: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! It was I who said that." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You do not have the strength for this. Therefore, you should also stand in prayer (at night) and also sleep, you should also fast and also break your fast. And fast only three days every month, for the reward of one good deed is multiplied ten times." Then the narrator mentioned the complete Hadith.

سیدنا ابن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ کو پتہ چل گیا کہ میں کہتا ہوں میں ہمیشہ دن کو روزہ رکھوں گا اور رات کو قیام کروں گا ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کیا تم ہی ہو جو کہتے ہو روزانہ رات کو قیام اور دن کو صیام کروں گا؟ عرض کیا جی ہاں یا رسول اللہ! میں نے ہی کہا ہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم اس کی طاقت نہیں رکھتے لہٰذا قیام بھی کیا کرو اور سویا بھی کرو روزہ بھی رکھو اور ناغہ بھی کیا کرو اور ہر مہینے میں صرف تین روزے رکھا کرو کہ ایک نیکی کا ثواب دس گنا ہوتا ہے پھر راوی نے مکمل حدیث ذکر کی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Amr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko pata chal gaya ki mein kehta hun mein hamesha din ko roza rakhunga aur raat ko qayam karunga ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya kya tum hi ho jo kehte ho rozana raat ko qayam aur din ko sayyam karunga arz kiya ji haan ya Rasulullah maine hi kaha hai Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum is ki taqat nahin rakhte lihaza qayam bhi kiya karo aur soya bhi karo roza bhi rakho aur nagha bhi kiya karo aur har mahine mein sirf teen roze rakho karo ki ek neki ka sawab das guna hota hai phir ravi ne mukammal hadees zikar ki.
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ: بَلَغَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِّي أَقُولُ: لَأَصُومَنَّ الدَّهْرَ، وَلَأَقُومَنَّ اللَّيْلَ مَا بَقِيتُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أَنْتَ الَّذِي تَقُولُ، أَوْ قُلْتَ: لَأَصُومَنَّ الدَّهْرَ، وَلَأَقُومَنَّ اللَّيْلَ مَا بَقِيتُ؟" قَالَ: قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ:" فَإِنَّكَ لَا تُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ"، قَالَ:" فَقُمْ وَنَمْ، وَصُمْ وَأَفْطِرْ، وَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، فَإِنَّ الْحَسَنَةَ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا"، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
