Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 7238
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Iqamah (call to start prayer) was announced and people began to straighten their rows. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also arrived and stood at his place. After a while, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured with his hand to the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and said, "Stay where you are." Then, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left. When he returned, he had performed Ghusl (ritual bath), and drops of water were dripping from his head. However, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the people in prayer.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نماز کی اقامت ہونے لگی اور لوگ صفیں درست کرنے لگے نبی کریم ﷺ بھی تشریف لے آئے اور اپنے مقام پر کھڑے ہوگئے تھوڑی دیر بعد نبی کریم ﷺ نے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ کو ہاتھ کے اشارے سے فرمایا: کہ تم لوگ یہیں ٹھہرو اور نبی کریم ﷺ تشریف لے گئے جب واپس آئے تو غسل فرما رکھا تھا اور سر سے پانی کے قطرات ٹپک رہے تھے پر آپ ﷺ نے لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba namaz ki iqamat hone lagi aur log safein durust karne lage Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bhi tashreef le aaye aur apne muqam par khare hogaye thori dair baad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sahaba kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko hath ke ishare se farmaya: ki tum log yaheen thehro aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tashreef le gaye jab wapas aaye to gusl farma rakha tha aur sar se pani ke qatrat tapak rahe the par aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne logon ko namaz parhayi.
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ:" أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ، وَصَفَّ النَّاسُ صُفُوفَهُمْ، وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَامَ مَقَامَهُ، ثُمَّ أَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِيَدِهِ: أَنْ مَكَانَكُمْ، فَخَرَجَ وَقَدْ اغْتَسَلَ، وَرَأْسُهُ يَنْطِفُ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ".
