Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8656
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that: “I am an eyewitness to the delegation of Banu Abdul Qais. When they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he forbade them to drink in Hantm (pitch-coated water skins), Dubba (large wooden bowls), Muzaffat (pitch-coated gourds), and Naqir (wooden cups).” One of them stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah! People have no other vessels except these.” I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and it seemed as if he felt compassion for the people. Then he said: “If these vessels are clean, then drink from them, and if they are dirty, then leave them.”

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں بنو عبدالقیس کے وفد کا عینی شاہد ہوں وہ لوگ نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو نبی ﷺ نے انہیں حنتم دباء مزفت اور نقیر نامی برتنوں میں مشروبات پینے سے منع فرمایا: اس پر ان میں سے ایک آدمی نے کھڑے ہو کر عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! لوگوں کے پاس اس کے علاوہ کوئی اور برتن نہیں؟ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو دیکھا تو ایسا محسوس ہوا کہ آپ کو لوگوں پر افسوس ہو رہا ہے پھر فرمایا: اگر یہ برتن صاف ہوں تو ان میں پی لیا کرو اور اگر گندے ہوں تو چھوڑ دیا کرو۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki mein Banu Abdul Qais ke wafd ka aini shahid hun woh log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hue to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen Hantam Daba Mazfat aur Naqeer nami bartan mein mashrobat pine se mana farmaya is par un mein se ek aadmi ne kharay ho kar arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah logon ke paas is ke ilawa koi aur bartan nahin maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko dekha to aisa mehsoos hua ki aap ko logon per afsos ho raha hai phir farmaya agar yeh bartan saaf hon to in mein pi liya karo aur agar gande hon to chhor diya karo.
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُكَيْنٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَشَاهِدٌ لِوَفْدِ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ، قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: فَنَهَاهُمْ أَنْ يَشْرَبُوا فِي هَذِهِ الْأَوْعِيَةِ الْحَنْتَمِ، وَالدُّبَّاءِ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ، وَالنَّقِيرِ، قَالَ: فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَا ظُرُوفَ لَهُمْ! قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَأَنَّهُ يَرْثِي لِلنَّاسِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ " اشْرَبُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ، فَإِذَا خَبُثَ فَذَرُوهُ" .
