Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9568
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that someone asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Who is the most honorable among the people?". The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The one who is the most righteous". The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah! We are not asking you about this." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then Yusuf (Joseph) (peace be upon him) is the most honorable, who is the Prophet, the son of a Prophet, the son of a Prophet, the son of the Prophet Khalilullah (Abraham) (peace be upon him)". The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah! We are not asking you about this either." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then are you asking about the people of the two Quraysh tribes (the descendants of Prophet Ismail and Prophet Ishaq)? Those among them who were the best in the pre-Islamic period are also the best in the period of Islam, provided that they understand the religion."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ کسی نے نبی کریم ﷺ پوچھا کہ لوگوں میں سب سے زیادہ معزز آدمی کون ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا جو سب سے زیادہ متقی ہو، صحابہ کرام نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ہم آپ سے یہ سوال نہیں پوچھ رہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ پھر حضرت یوسف علیہ السلام سب سے زیادہ معزز ہیں جو نبی ابن نبی ابن نبی ابن خلیل اللہ ہیں صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا یا رسول ﷺ ہم آپ سے یہ بھی نہیں پوچھ رہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تو پھر عرب کی کانوں کے متعلق پوچھ رہے ہو؟ ان میں جو لوگ زمانہ جاہلیت میں سب سے بہتر تھے وہ زمانہ اسلام میں بھی سب سے بہتر ہیں جبکہ دین کی سمجھ بوجھ کرلیں۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki kisi ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha ki logon mein sab se zyada moazziz aadmi kaun hai? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jo sab se zyada muttaqi ho, Sahaba Kiram ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hum aap se ye sawal nahin pooch rahe. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya ki phir Hazrat Yusuf Alaihissalam sab se zyada moazziz hain jo Nabi Ibn Nabi Ibn Nabi Ibn Khalil Allah hain. Sahaba Kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya Ya Rasul (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hum aap se ye bhi nahin pooch rahe. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya to phir Arab ki qanon ke mutalliq pooch rahe ho? Un mein jo log zamanah jahiliyat mein sab se behtar the wo zamanah Islam mein bhi sab se behtar hain jabke deen ki samajh boojh kar len.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ أَكْرَمُ النَّاسِ؟، قَالَ:" أَتْقَاهُمْ"، قَالُوا: لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ. قَالَ:" فَيُوسُفُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ، ابْنُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ، ابْنِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ، ابْنِ خَلِيلِ اللَّهِ". قَالُوا: لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ. قَالَ:" فَعَنْ مَعَادِنِ الْعَرَبِ تَسْأَلُونِي؟ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا" .
