Abu Bakr Humaidi says: I heard from Yahya bin Saeed Qattan that he asked Sufyan bin Uyaynah about the Hadith, that is, we performed Tayammum up to the elbows with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Sufyan said: I went to Ismail bin Umayya, and he came to Zuhri and said: O Abu Bakr! People deny two Hadiths of yours! They asked: Which are they? He said: They performed Tayammum up to the elbows.
Zuhri says: It is narrated from Amr that we performed Tayammum up to the elbows with the Prophet (peace be upon him). Ismail says: In the Hadith of Ubaidullah, there is mention of touching the armpits.
It is narrated from Ubaidullah that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered a man to perform Wudu because he touched his armpits.
Sometimes the order to wash hands is due to cleanliness. And Allah knows best.

(٦٥٥) ابوبکر حمیدی کہتے ہیں : میں نے یحییٰ بن سعید قطان سے سنا کہ انھوں نے سفیان بن عیینہ سے اس حدیث کے متعلق سوال کیا، یعنی ہم نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ کندھوں تک تیمم کیا۔ سفیان نے فرمایا : میں اسماعیل بن امیہ کے پاس حاضر ہوا، وہ زہری کے پاس آئے اور عرض کیا : اے ابوبکر ! لوگ آپ کی دو حدیثوں کا انکار کرتے ہیں ! انھوں نے پوچھا : وہ کونسی ہیں ؟ انھوں نے فرمایا : انھوں نے کندھوں تک تیمم کیا۔
زہری کہتے ہیں : عمار سے روایت ہے کہ ہم نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ کندھوں تک تیمم کیا۔ اسماعیل کہتے ہیں : عبید اللہ کی حدیث میں بغلوں کو چھونے کا ذکر ہے۔
عبیداللہ سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا عمر (رض) نے ایک آدمی کو بغلیں چھونے کی بنا پر وضو کرنے کا حکم دیا۔
بسا اوقات ہاتھ دھونے کا حکم صفائی کی وجہ سے ہوتا ہے۔ واللہ اعلم۔
655 Abu Bakr Humaidi kehte hain : maine Yahya bin Saeed Qattan se suna ki unhon ne Sufian bin Uyainah se is hadees ke mutalliq sawal kiya, yani hum ne Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath kandhon tak tayammum kiya. Sufian ne farmaya : main Ismail bin Amiyyah ke paas hazir hua, woh Zuhri ke paas aaye aur arz kiya : aye Abu Bakr ! log aap ki do hadeeson ka inkar karte hain ! unhon ne poocha : woh kaunsi hain ? unhon ne farmaya : unhon ne kandhon tak tayammum kiya.
Zuhri kehte hain : Umar se riwayat hai ki hum ne Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke sath kandhon tak tayammum kiya. Ismail kehte hain : Ubaidullah ki hadees mein baghaloun ko chhoone ka zikr hai.
Ubaidullah se riwayat hai ki Sayyiduna Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne ek aadmi ko baghalain chhoone ki bina par wuzu karne ka hukum diya.
Basa auqat hath dhone ka hukum safai ki wajah se hota hai. Wallahu A'lam.
(656) It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a person performs ablution and touches his armpits, he should perform ablution again.
(b) It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that it is not necessary to repeat it.

(٦٥٦) سیدنا ابن عمر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ جب کوئی شخص وضو کرے اور اپنی بغلوں کو چھوئے تو وہ دوبارہ وضو کرے۔
(ب) ابن عباس (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ اس پر اعادہ ضروری نہیں ہے۔
(656) Syedna Ibn Umar (RA) se riwayat hai ke jab koi shakhs wuzu kare aur apni baghlon ko chhuye to woh dobara wuzu kare. (b) Ibn Abbas (RA) se riwayat hai ke is par eada zaruri nahi hai.
Yahya al-Bakka said: I saw Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) insert his hand under his armpit during prayer, and he continued his prayer.

(٦٥٧) یحییٰ بکاء کہتے ہیں : میں نے سیدنا ابن عمر (رض) کو دیکھا، انھوں نے اپنا ہاتھ نماز کی حالت میں بغلوں میں داخل کیا، پھر بھی اپنی نماز جاری رکھی۔
(657) Yahya Bakka kahte hain : maine Sayyidna Ibn Umar (RA) ko dekha, unhon ne apna hath namaz ki halat mein baghlon mein dakhil kya, phir bhi apni namaz jari rakhi.
(658) (a) It is narrated from Nafi' that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to perform ablution in the heat and would wipe his hands over his armpits, and that would not invalidate his ablution.
(b) Ibn Wahb said: There is no harm in touching the armpits during ablution.
(c) Shaykh said: This is the opinion of Imam Hasan Basri and Harith Al-Akle, both Successors (Tabi'een). This is also the position of Imam Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him).

(٦٥٨) (الف) نافع سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) گرمی میں وضو کرتے تھے اور اپنا ہاتھ بغلوں پر پھیرتے تھے اور اس سے ان کا وضو نہیں ٹوٹتا تھا۔
(ب) ابن وھب کہتے ہیں : بغلوں کو چھونے سے وضو نہیں ہے۔
(ج) شیخ کہتے ہیں : یہ امام حسن بصری اور حارث عکلی تابعی کا قول ہے۔ یہ مؤقف امام شافعی (رح) کا ہے۔
(658) (alif) Nafi se riwayat hai ki Sayyidna Abdullah bin Umar (RA) garmi mein wuzu karte thay aur apna hath baghlon par phairte thay aur is se un ka wuzu nahin tootta tha.
(b) Ibn Wahab kehte hain : baghlon ko chhoone se wuzu nahin hai.
(j) Sheikh kehte hain : yeh Imam Hasan Basri aur Harith Akli tabi ka qaul hai. Yeh mauqif Imam Shafi (RA) ka hai.
