Chapter on when one enters his i'tikaf if he obligates on himself a month of i'tikaf or days.
باب متى يدخل في اعتكافه إذا أوجب على نفسه اعتكاف شهر أو أيام

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wanted to observe I'tikaf in the middle ten days of a month, when twenty nights had passed and the twenty-first had come, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would go to his home and meet his family, and narrate the story of the night in which he was to observe I'tikaf. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would deliver the sermon and say whatever he wanted to say to the people. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would say: I intended to observe I'tikaf during these ten days. Then it was made clear to me that I should observe I'tikaf in the next ten days. So whoever observed I'tikaf with me, let him remain steadfast. And he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I was shown this night. Then I was made to forget it. So seek it in the last ten days, in the odd nights. And I was shown that I was prostrating in water and clay.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned after the prayer on the morning of the twenty-first, there was clay on his forehead and nose.

(٨٥٧٩) ابو سعید خدری (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) جس مہینے کے وسط عشرے میں اعتکاف کرنا چاہتے تو جب بیس راتیں گزرجاتی اور اکیسویں آرہی ہوتی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اپنے گھر جاتے اور ہمسائیوں سے ملتے اور اس رات کا قصہ کرتے جس میں اعتکاف کرنا ہوتا ۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) خطبہ ارشاد فرماتے اور لوگوں سے جو کچھ کہنا ہوتا وہ کہتے ۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) فرماتے : میں اس عشرے کا اعتکاف کرنا چاہتا تھا۔ پھر مجھ پر وواضح ہوا کہ آئندہ عشرے میں اعتکاف کروں۔ سو جس نے میرے ساتھ اعتکاف کیا تھا وہ ثابت رہیں اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مجھے یہ رات دکھائی گئی تھی ۔ پھر میں بھلادیا گیا ۔ سو تم اسے آخری عشرے میں تلاش کرو طاق راتوں میں اور مجھے دکھایا گیا کہ میں پانی ومٹی میں سجدہ کررہاہوں۔
ابو سعید خدری (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اکیس کی صبح کو نماز کے بعد پھرے تو آپ کی پیشانی اور ناک پر مٹی تھی۔
(8579) Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) bayan karte hain keh Rasool Allah (SAW) jis mahinay ke wast ashray mein itikaaf karna chahte to jab bees raaten guzar jati aur ikkisvi arahi hoti to aap (SAW) apne ghar jate aur hamsaiyon se milte aur us raat ka qissa karte jis mein itikaaf karna hota. Phir aap (SAW) khutba irshad farmate aur logon se jo kuch kehna hota woh kehte. Phir aap (SAW) farmate: main is ashray ka itikaaf karna chahta tha. Phir mujh par wazeh hua keh aindah ashray mein itikaaf karoon. So jis ne mere saath itikaaf kiya tha woh sabit rahen aur aap (SAW) ne farmaya: mujhe yeh raat dikhayi gayi thi. Phir main bhula diya gaya. So tum ise aakhri ashray mein talaash karo taaq raaton mein aur mujhe dikhaya gaya keh main pani o mitti mein sajdah kar raha hoon.
Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) bayan karte hain keh jab aap (SAW) ikkis ki subah ko namaz ke baad phire to aap ki peshani aur naak par mitti thi.
Chapter (144): A person observing Itikaf (religious seclusion in a mosque) may leave the mosque for urination or defecation. He may inquire about the health of a sick person while passing by, but should not go out specifically to visit the sick, nor to attend a funeral. He should not have sexual intercourse with his wife, nor should he touch her.

(١٤٤) باب الْمُعْتَکِفِ یَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ لِبَوْلٍ أَوْ غَائِطٍ ثُمَّ لاَ یَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْمَرِیضِ إِلاَّ مَارًّا وَلاَ یَخْرُجُ لِعِیَادَۃِ مَرِیضِ وَلاَ لِشِہُودِ جَنَازَۃٍ وَلاَ یُبَاشِرُ امْرَأَۃً وَلاَ یَمَسُّہَا
معتکف مسجد سے نکلے بول وبراز کے لیے اور مریض سے چلتے چلتے تیمارداری کرلے، ویسے مریض کی عیادت کے لیے نہ نکلے اور نہ جنازے میں شرکت کے لیے اور نہ ہی عورت سے مباشرت کرے اور نہ اسے چھوئے

mu'takif masjid se nikle bol wobaraaz ke liye aur mariiz se chalte chalte timaardari karle, waise mariiz ki 'aiyaadat ke liye na nikle aur na janaaze mein shirkat ke liye aur na hi 'aurat se mubasharat kare aur na use chhuye.
