Chapter on the Length of Their Recitation in the Night Prayer in Ramadan
باب قدر قراءتهم في قيام شهر رمضان
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 4624
Abu 'Uthman Nahadee reported that 'Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) called three reciters and listened to their recitation. He said to the one who recited fast, "Make the people stand (in prayer) reciting thirty verses." To the one with a moderate pace, he said, "Recite twenty-five verses." And to the slowest reciter, he said, "Recite twenty verses."

(٤٦٢٤) ابو عثمان نہدی فرماتے ہیں کہ عمر بن خطاب (رض) نے تین قراء کو بلوایا اور ان کی قرأت سنی، ان میں سے جلدی قرأت کرنے والے سے فرمایا کہ وہ تیس آیات کی تلاوت سے لوگوں کو قیام کروائے اور درمیانی قرات کرنے والے سے کہا کہ وہ پچیس آیات کی تلاوت کرے اور سب سے آہستہ پڑھنے والے سے کہا کہ وہ بیس آیات کی تلاوت کرے۔
4624 Abu Usman Nahdi farmate hain ki Umar bin Khattab (RA) ne teen qurra ko bulaya aur un ki qirat suni, un mein se jaldi qirat karne wale se farmaya ki woh tees aayaat ki tilawat se logon ko qayam karwaye aur darmiyai qirat karne wale se kaha ki woh pachchis aayaat ki tilawat kare aur sab se ahista padhne wale se kaha ki woh bees aayaat ki tilawat kare.
Dawud ibn Husayn reported from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hurmuz that people used to invoke curses on the disbelievers only in Ramadan. The reciter would recite Surat al-Baqarah in eight rak'ahs, and when the reciter would complete Surat al-Baqarah in twelve rak'ahs, the people found that qiyam (standing in prayer) to be lighter.

(٤٦٢٥) داؤد بن حصین نے عبدالرحمن بن ھرمز سے نقل کیا کہ لوگ صرف رمضان میں کافروں پر لعنت کرتے تھے، قاری آٹھ رکعات میں سورة بقرہ پڑھا کرتا تھا اور جب قاری بارہ رکعات میں سو رہ بقرہ مکمل کرتے تو لوگ اس قیام کو ہلکا محسوس کرتے تھے۔
Dawood bin Husain ne Abdul Rahman bin Hurmuz se naqal kiya ke log sirf Ramzan mein kaafiron par laanat karte thay, Qari aath rakaat mein Surah Baqarah parha karta tha aur jab Qari barah rakaat mein Surah Baqarah mukammal karte to log us qayam ko halka mehsoos karte thay.
Abdullah bin Abi Bakr narrated that I heard from my father that when we would return from praying Qiyam Ramadan, we would ask the servant to hurry up with the food out of fear of the dawn approaching.

(٤٦٢٦) عبداللہ بن ابی بکر فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے اپنے والد سے سنا کہ ہم قیام رمضان سے واپس پلٹتے تو طلوع فجر کے خوف سے خادم سے جلدی کھانا طلب کیا کرتے تھے۔
