Chapter: Recommended Closing Their Eyes When They Die
باب ما يستحب من إغماض عينيه إذا مات
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 6606
Narrated Umm Salamah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited Abu Salamah (RA) while his eyes were staring open. The Prophet (ﷺ) closed them for him. Then he (ﷺ) said, "When the soul is seized, the eyesight follows it." And when his family cried out loudly, he (ﷺ) said, "Do not supplicate for yourselves except what is good, for the angels say 'Amen' to whatever you say." Then he (ﷺ) said, "O Allah, forgive Abu Salamah and elevate his rank among the guided. And grant patience to his family he left behind. Forgive us and him, O Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, make his grave spacious for him and illuminate it for him."

(٦٦٠٦) حضرت ام سلمہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ابی سلمہ پر داخل ہوئے اور ان کی آنکھیں کھلی ہوئی تھیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ان کی آنکھیں بند کردیں۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : بیشک جب روح قبض کرلی جاتی ہے تو نگاہیں اس کا پیچھا کرتی ہیں تو ان کے اہل کے لوگ چیخ پڑے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : نہ دعا کرے اپنے نفسوں کیلئے مگر بھلائی کی۔ بیشک جو تم کہتے ہو فرشتے اس پر آمین کہتے ہیں۔ پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اے اللہ ! ابو سلمہ کو معاف کر دے اور مہدیین میں اس کے درجات بلند فرما اور اس کا نائب پیچھے چھوڑے جانے والوں میں ۔ ہمیں بھی معاف کر دے اور اسے بھی ، اے رب العالمین ! اے اللہ ! اس کی قبر کو کشادہ کر دے اور اس کی قبر کو منور فرما دے۔
Hazrat Umm Salma (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasool Allah (SAW) Abi Salma par dakhil huye aur un ki aankhen khuli hui thin. Aap (SAW) ne un ki aankhen band kar din. Phir aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Beshak jab rooh qabz kar li jati hai to nigahen is ka picha karti hain to un ke ahl ke log cheekh pade. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Na dua kare apne nafson ke liye magar bhalaai ki. Beshak jo tum kehte ho farishte is par ameen kehte hain. Phir aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Ae Allah! Abu Salma ko maaf kar de aur muhdeyeen mein is ke darjaat buland farma aur is ka naib peche chhore jaane walon mein. Hamein bhi maaf kar de aur ise bhi, ae Rabbul Aalameen! Ae Allah! Is ki qabar ko kushada kar de aur is ki qabar ko munawwar farma de.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you not see that when a person dies, his sight follows his soul?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, indeed it does." So he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "That is because the gaze follows it (the soul)."

(٦٦٠٨) ابوہریرہ (رض) کہتے ہیں : نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : کیا تم انسان کو نہیں دیکھتے کہ جب وہ فوت ہوتا ہے تو اس کی آنکھیں گڑ (کھلی رہ) جاتی ہیں۔ انھوں نے کہا : کیوں نہیں ، اے اللہ کے رسول ! ایسا ہی ہوتا ہے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : یہ تب ہوتا ہے جب نگاہیں روح کا پیچھا کرتی ہیں۔
6608 Abu Hurairah (RA) kehte hain Nabi Kareem ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya kya tum insan ko nahin dekhte kah jab woh faut hota hai to us ki aankhein gadh jati hain unhon ne kaha kyun nahin aye Allah ke Rasool aisa hi hota hai to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya yeh tab hota hai jab nigahein rooh ka peecha karti hain
Bakr bin Abdullah said: When you close the eyes of the deceased, say: "Bismillah, wa 'ala millati rasulillah (In the name of Allah and upon the religion of the Messenger of Allah)." And when you lift him, say: "Bismillah (In the name of Allah)." Then, as long as you carry him, continue to say: "Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah)."

(٦٦٠٩) بکر بن عبداللہ کہتے ہیں : جب تو میت کی آنکھیں بند کرے تو کہہ : بِسْمِ اللَّہِ وَعَلَی مِلَّۃِ رَسُولِ اللَّہِ اور جب تو اسے اٹھائے تو کہہ : ” بِسْم اللَّہِ “ پھر تو جب تک اٹھائے رکھے تو ” سُبْحَانَ اللّٰہ “ کہتا رہ۔
(6609) Bakr bin Abdullah kahte hain : Jab tu mayyat ki aankhen band kare to kah : Bismillah waala millati Rasoollillah aur jab tu usay uthaye to kah : ” Bismillah “ phir tu jab tak uthaye rakhe to ” Subhanallah “ kahta rah.
