Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to walk with us on the road, we found him to be very lenient. A case was brought to him regarding a woman and her parents. He decreed a quarter for the woman and the remaining third for the mother.

(١٢٢٩٩) حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) فرماتے ہیں : حضرت عمر (رض) جب راستے میں ہمارے ساتھ چلتے تو ہم انھیں انتہائی نرم پاتے تھے، ان کے پاس ایک عورت اور والدین کا معاملہ لایا گیا تو انھوں نے عورت کے لیے ربع اور ماں کے لیے باقی کا ثلث قرار دیا۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) farmate hain : Hazrat Umar (RA) jab raste mein humare sath chalte to hum unhen intehai narm pate the, un ke paas ek aurat aur waldain ka mamla laya gaya to unhon ne aurat ke liye ruba aur maan ke liye baqi ka suls karar diya.
١٢٢٩٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ،قَالَا:ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، ثنا ⦗٣٧٤⦘ مَنْصُورٌ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ،عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ" إِذَا سَلَكَ بِنَا طَرِيقًا وَجَدْنَاهُ سَهْلًا، وَإِنَّهُ أُتِيَ فِي امْرَأَةٍ وَأَبَوَيْنِ فَجَعَلَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ الرُّبُعَ، وَلِلْأُمِّ ثُلُثَ مَا بَقِيَ "وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ،وَزَادَ فِيهِ:وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأَبِ
