Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 13251
It is narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) that whenever food was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would ask: "Is this a gift or charity?" If it was said: "It is charity", he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would tell the Companions (RA) to eat it and would not eat himself, and when it was said: "It is a gift", he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would take it with his own hand and eat with them.

(١٣٢٥١) حضرت ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس کوئی کھانا لایا جاتا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پوچھے تھے : کیا ہدیہ یا صدقہ ؟ اگر کہا جاتا : صدقہ ہے تو صحابہ کرام (رض) کو فرماتے کہ اسے کھالو اور خودنہ کھاتے اور جب کہا جاتا ہدیہ ہے تو اپنے ہاتھ سے اسے پکڑ لیتے اور ان کے ساتھ کھاتے تھے۔

١٣٢٥١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ الْمُزَكِّي، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا قَطَنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ،عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ سَأَلَ عَنْهُ أَهُوَ هَدِيَّةٌ أَمْ صَدَقَةٌ،فَإِنْ قِيلَ:صَدَقَةٌ،قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ:" كُلُوا "وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ،وَإِنْ قِيلَ:هَدِيَّةٌ، ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ وَأَكَلَ مَعَهُمْ "
