Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 13542
Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah: After praise and gratitude to Allah! It has reached me that Muslim women take bath in hammams (public baths) and with them are women from the People of the Book. Prohibit the latter (the People of the Book women) from this and permit the former (the Muslim women).

(١٣٥٤٢) عمر بن خطاب (رض) نے ابوعبیدہ بن جراح کی طرف خط لکھا : حمدوثنا کے بعد ! مجھے یہ بات معلوم ہوئی کہ مسلمان عورتیں حمام میں نہاتی ہیں اور ان کے ساتھ اہل کتاب کی عورتیں بھی ہوتی ہیں، ان کو اس سے منع کرو اور دوسری (مسلمان عورتیں) جائز قرار دو ۔
13542 Umar bin Khattab (RA) ne Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah ki taraf khat likha: Hamd o sana ke baad! Mujhe yeh baat maloom hui ke musalman aurten hammam mein nahati hain aur un ke sath ahl e kitab ki aurten bhi hoti hain, un ko is se mana karo aur dusri (musalman aurten) jaiz karar do.
١٣٥٤٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ النَّضْرَوِيّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ الْغَازِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْجُرَشِيُّ،عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ الْكِنْدِيِّ قَالَ:كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ:" أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ نِسَاءً مِنْ نِسَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَدْخُلْنَ الْحَمَّامَاتِ وَمَعَهُنَّ نِسَاءُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ، فَامْنَعْ ذَلِكَ، وَحُلْ دُونَهُ "
