Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 2106
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Shihab that Hamid b. Abdur-Rahman b. Auf informed me that both Umar b. Khattab and Uthman b. Affan (Allah be pleased with them) used to observe the evening prayer when it was, according to them, still dark, i. e. before breaking the fast, and they would break the fast after the prayer.

(٢١٠٦) ابن شہاب سے روایت ہے کہ مجھے حمید بن عبدالرحمن بن عوف نے خبر دی کہ عمر بن خطاب اور عثمان بن عفان (رض) دونوں جب رات کی سیاہی دیکھتے تو مغرب کی نماز ادا کرلیتے یعنی روزہ افطار کرنے سے پہلے۔ پھر نماز کے بعد روزہ افطار کرتے تھے۔

٢١٠٦ -وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا:ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَمَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَعُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ كَانَا يُصَلِّيَانِ صَلَاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ حِينَ يَنْظُرَانِ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ الْأَسْوَدِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفْطِرَا ثُمَّ يُفْطِرَانِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ "
