Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 3289
(3289) Ubadah bin Walid bin Samit narrated that we went to Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) in his mosque. He was praying wrapped in a cloth. I stepped over the people and reached him, and sat between him and the Qibla. I said: May Allah have mercy on you, are you praying in a single cloth while your waist-wrapper is here in front of you? He said: I wish that ignorant people like you come to me, see how I pray, and do the same. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (during the expedition of Tabuk) stood up for prayer and I had a striped sheet on me. I started turning its edge (to tie around the neck) but it could not reach there. I turned it over. Then I turned its edges to the opposite sides (i.e. the right edge to the left side and the left edge to the right side). Then I held it by the neck, bending it (to prevent it from falling). Then I stood on the left side of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). You took hold of me with your hand, turned me around, and made me stand on your right side. Meanwhile, Ibn Sakhr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and stood on your left side. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took hold of both of us and made us stand behind you. We stood behind you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kept looking at me but I could not understand. Then I understood. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured to me, meaning tie the waist wrapper. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the prayer, he said: "Jabir!" I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah!" You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When the cloth is wide, put the right edge on the left shoulder and the left edge on the right shoulder, and if the cloth is small, then tie it around the waist."

(٣٢٨٩) عبادہ بن ولید بن صامت روایت کرتے ہیں کہ ہم حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) کے پاس ان کی مسجد میں آئے۔ وہ ایک کپڑے کو لپیٹے نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔ میں لوگوں کو پھلانگتا ہوا ان کے پاس جا پہنچا اور ان کے اور قبلے کے درمیان جا بیٹھا اور میں نے عرض کیا : اللہ تعالیٰ آپ پر رحم فرمائے ، کیا آپ ایک کپڑے میں نماز ادا کر رہے ہیں جب کہ آپ کا تہبند یہ رہا آپ کے پہلو میں ؟ تو انھوں نے فرمایا : میں چاہتا ہوں کہ میرے پاس تمہارے جیسے نادان آئیں تو وہ مجھے دیکھیں کہ میں کیسے کرتا ہوں اور وہ بھی اس طرح کریں۔۔۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) (سفر جہاد میں) نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے اور میرے اوپر ایک دھاری دار چادر تھی ۔ میں اس کے کنارے الٹنے لگا (تاکہ گردن سے باندھ لوں) ، لیکن وہ وہاں تک نہ پہنچ سکی ۔ میں نے اسے الٹ دیا۔ پھر میں نے اس کے کناروں کو مخالفت سمت کرلیا (یعنی داہنے کنارے کو بائیں طرف اور بائیں کنارے کو داہنی طرف) ۔ پھر میں نے اسے (گرنے سے بچانے کے لیے) جھک کر گردن سے روکے رکھا۔ پھر میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی بائیں جانب کھڑا ہوگیا ۔ آپ نے مجھے میرے ہاتھ سے پکڑ کر گھمایا اور اپنے داہنی طرف کھڑا کردیا۔ اتنے میں ابن صخر (رض) آگئے اور آپ کے بائیں جانب کھڑے ہوگئے۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہم دونوں کو پکڑ کر اپنے پیچھے کھڑا کردیا۔ ہم آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پیچھے کھڑے ہوئے۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مجھے مسلسل دیکھ رہے تھے ، لیکن میں سمجھ نہیں پا رہا تھا۔ پھر میں سمجھ گیا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے اشارہ کیا یعنی تہبند باندھ لو، جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو فرمایا : جابر ! میں نے عرض کیا : حاضر ہوں۔ اے اللہ کے رسول ! آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب کپڑا وسیع ہو تو دایاں کنارہ بائیں کندھے پر اور بایاں کنارہ داہنے کندھے پر ڈال لیا کرو اور اگر کپڑا چھوٹا ہو تو اسے کمر پر باندھ لو۔
3289 Ubadah bin Walid bin Samit riwayat karte hain ki hum Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (Razi Allah Anhu) ke paas un ki masjid mein aaye. Wo ek kapde ko lapete namaz padh rahe the. Mein logon ko phalangta hua un ke paas ja pahuncha aur un ke aur qibla ke darmiyaan ja baitha aur maine arz kiya: Allah Ta'ala aap par raham farmaye, kya aap ek kapde mein namaz ada kar rahe hain jabke aapka tehband ye raha aapke pahloo mein? To unhon ne farmaya: Mein chahta hoon ki mere paas tumhare jaise nadan aayen to wo mujhe dekhen ki mein kaise karta hoon aur wo bhi is tarah karen... Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) (safar jihad mein) namaz ke liye khde hue aur mere upar ek dhari daar chadar thi. Mein iske kinare ulatne laga (taake gardan se bandh loon), lekin wo wahan tak na pahunch saki. Maine ise ulat diya. Phir maine iske kinaron ko mukhalfat simt karliya (yani dahine kinare ko baayen taraf aur baayen kinare ko dahni taraf). Phir maine ise (girne se bachane ke liye) jhuk kar gardan se roke rakha. Phir mein Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki baayen jaanib khda ho gaya. Aap ne mujhe mere haath se pakad kar ghumaya aur apne dahni taraf khda kar diya. Itne mein Ibn Sakhr (Razi Allah Anhu) aagaye aur aap ke baayen jaanib khde hogaye. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hum donon ko pakad kar apne peechhe khda kar diya. Hum aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke peechhe khde hue. Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) mujhe musalsal dekh rahe the, lekin mein samajh nahi paa raha tha. Phir mein samajh gaya. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe ishara kiya yani tehband bandh lo, jab Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) namaz se farigh hue to farmaya: Jabir! Maine arz kiya: Hazir hoon. Aye Allah ke Rasul! Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jab kapda wasee ho to daayan kinara baayen kandhe par aur baayan kinara dahne kandhe par daal liya karo aur agar kapda chhota ho to ise kamar par bandh lo.
٣٢٨٩ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْأَدَمِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ السِّمْسَارُ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، ثنا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ مُجَاهِدٍ أَبِي حَزْرَةَ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ،قَالَ:أَتَيْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي مَسْجِدِهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ فَتَخَطَّيْتُ الْقَوْمَ حَتَّى جَلَسْتُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَقُلْتُ: يَرْحَمُكُ اللهُ أَتُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَهَذَا إِزَارُكَ إِلَى جَنْبِكَ؟فَقَالَ:أَرَدْتُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَيَّ الْأَحْمَقُ مِثْلُكَ فَيَرَانِي كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فَيَصْنَعُ مِثْلَهُ،فذَكَرَ حَدِيثًا طَوِيلًا فِيهِ:قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،يَعْنِي يُصَلِّي وَكَانَتْ عَلَيَّ بُرْدَةٌ ذَهَبْتُ أُخَالِفُ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهَا فَلَمْ تَبْلُغْ لِي وَكَانَتْ لَهَا ذُبَابٌ:فَنَكَّسْتُهَا ثُمَّ خَالَفْتُ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهَا ثُمَّ تَوَاقَصْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَجِئْتُ حَتَّى قُمْتُ عََنْ يَسَارِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَأَدَارَنِي حَتَّى أَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَجَاءَ ابْنُ صَخْرٍ حَتَّى قَامَ،عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَأَخَذَنَا بِيَدَيْهِ جَمِيعًا فَدَفَعَنَا حَتَّى أَقَامَنَا خَلْفَهُ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْمُقُنِي وَأَنَا لَا أَشْعُرُ ثُمَّ فَطِنْتُ بِهِ فَقَالَ:" هَكَذَا "يَعْنِي شُدَّ وَسَطَكَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:" يَا جَابِرُ "قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ،قَالَ:" إِذَا كَانَ وَاسِعًا فَخَالِفْ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ وَإِذَا كَانَ ضَيِّقًا فَاشْدُدْهُ عَلَى حَقْوَتِكَ "رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ وَغَيْرِهِ
