Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 3854
Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Forgetfulness occurs when one stands where one should sit and sits where one should stand, or when one recites the tashahhud after two rak'ahs instead of four. Therefore, when one finishes their prayer, they should offer two prostrations while sitting, recite the tashahhud in them, and then offer the salutation.

(٣٨٥٤) حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں : سہو تب ہوتا ہے جب جہاں بیٹھنا چاہے وہاں کھڑا ہوجائے اور جہاں کھڑا ہونا تھا وہاں بیٹھ جائے یا دو رکعتیں پڑھ کر سلام پھیر دے، لہٰذا وہ اپنی نماز سے فارغ ہوتے وقت بیٹھے بیٹھے ہی دو سجدے کرے ان میں تشہد پڑھے اور سلام پھیر لے۔
(3854) Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) bayan karte hain: Sahoo tab hota hai jab jahan bethna chahe wahan khara hojae aur jahan khara hona tha wahan beth jae ya do rakaten parh kar salam phir de, lihaza woh apni namaz se farigh hote waqt bethay bethay hi do sajde kare un mein tashahhud parhe aur salam phir le.
٣٨٥٤ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْعِرَاقِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ،ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ،عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:" السَّهْوُ إِذَا قَامَ فِيمَا يَجْلِسُ فِيهِ، أَوْ قَعَدَ فِيمَا يُقَامُ فِيهِ، أَوْ سَلَّمَ فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَفْرُغُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ وَيَسْجُدُ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ يَتَشَهَّدُ فِيهِمَا وَيُسَلِّمُ "
