Chapter: One Who Abandons Shortening the Prayer While Traveling Without Aversion to the Sunnah
باب من ترك القصر في السفر غير رغبة عن السنة

Imam Shafi'i said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has guided us that narrating a story without any fear during a journey is a charity from Allah. Shortening the prayer is not obligatory, and a traveler may shorten the prayer if they wish. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered prayer both in full and shortened form during journeys.

(٥٤٢١) امام شافعی فرماتے ہیں : نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ہماری راہنمائی فرمائی ہے کہ سفر میں بلا خوف قصہ کرنا یہ اللہ کا صدقہ ہے نماز کا قصر کرنا لازم نہیں اور سفر میں بلا خوف قصر اگر مسافر چاہے تو کرلے۔ حضرت عائشہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے سفر میں قصر اور مکمل دونوں طرح نماز پڑھی ہے۔
(5421) Imam Shafai farmate hain : Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hamari rahnumai farmai hai ke safar mein bala khauf qissa karna ye Allah ka sadqa hai namaz ka qasar karna lazim nahi aur safar mein bala khauf qasar agar musafir chahe to karle. Hazrat Ayesha (Razi Allah Anha) farmati hain ke Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne safar mein qasar aur mukammal dono tarah namaz parhi hai.
٥٤٢١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ،أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ قَالَ:قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: فَدَلَّ قَوْلُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى أَنَّ الْقَصْرَ فِي السَّفَرِ بِلَا خَوْفٍ صَدَقَةٌ مِنَ اللهِ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ رُخْصَةٌ لَا حَتْمٌ مِنَ اللهِ أَنْ يَقْصُرُوا، وَدَلَّ عَلَى أَنْ يَقْصُرُوا فِي السَّفَرِ بِلَا خَوْفٍ إِنْ شَاءَ الْمُسَافِرُ،وَإِنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ:" كُلُّ ذَلِكَ فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَتَمَّ فِي السَّفَرِ وَقَصَرَ "
