Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that they used to greet the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) while he was praying and he used to answer our greetings. When we returned from An-Najashi (the ruler of Ethiopia), we greeted him, but he did not answer us (during the prayer) and (after finishing the prayer) he said, ‘in the prayer one is occupied (with a more serious matter).’
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: ہم نبی ﷺ کو سلام کہتے جبکہ آپ نماز میں ہوتے تھے، تو آپ ہمیں اس کا جواب دیتے تھے، لیکن جب ہم نجاشی ؓ کے پاس واپس آئے تو ہم نے آپ کو (دورانِ نماز میں) سلام کہا تو آپ نے جواب نہ دیا اور فرمایا: ’’بلاشبہ نماز میں مشغولیت ہوتی ہے۔‘‘ ہریم بن سفیان نے بھی عبداللہ بن مسعود ؓ کی اس روایت کو اسی طرح بیان کیا ہے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya: Hum Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko salam kehte jabke Aap namaz mein hote thay, to Aap humein is ka jawab dete thay, lekin jab hum Najashi (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke pas wapas aaye to hum ne Aap ko (dauran-e-namaz mein) salam kaha to Aap ne jawab na diya aur farmaya: ''Bilashuba namaz mein mashghooliyat hoti hai.'' Harim bin Sufyan ne bhi Abdullah bin Masood (Radi Allahu Anhu) ki is riwayat ko isi tarah bayan kiya hai.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : كُنَّا نُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَيَرُدُّ عَلَيْنَا ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ النَّجَاشِيِّ سَلَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْنَا وَقَالَ : إِنَّ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شُغْلًا .
