Chapter: The white mule of the Prophet saws

باب بَغْلَةِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْبَيْضَاءِ

Sahih al-Bukhari 2873

Amr bin Al-Harith (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) did not leave anything behind him after his death except a white mule, his arms and a piece of land which he left to be given in charity.

حضرت عمرو بن حارث  ؓسے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے (وفات کے وقت) صرف اپنا سفید خچر، اپنے ہتھیار اور وہ زمین چھوڑی تھی جسے آپ نے صدقہ کردیا تھا۔

Hazrat Amr bin Harith (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne (wafat ke waqt) sirf apna sufaid khachar, apne hathyar aur wo zameen chori thi jisay Aap ne sadqah kardiya tha.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْحَارِثِ ، قَالَ : مَا تَرَكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا بَغْلَتَهُ الْبَيْضَاءَ ، وَسِلَاحَهُ ، وَأَرْضًا تَرَكَهَا صَدَقَةً .

Al-Bara (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that a man asked him, ‘O Abu Umara! Did you flee on the day (of the battle) of Hunain?’ He replied, no, by Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز), the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) did not flee but the hasty people fled and the people of the Tribe of Hawazin attacked them with arrows, while the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was riding his white mule and Abu Sufyan bin Al-Harith (رضي الله تعالى عنه) was holding its reins, and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was saying, ‘I am the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in truth, I am the son of Abdul Muttalib’.’

حضرت براء بن عازب  ؓسے روایت ہے، ان سے ایک آدمی نے پوچھا: اے ابو عمارہ! کیا تم نے غزوہ حنین کے موقع پر پیٹھ پھیر لی تھی؟ انھوں نے فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! نبی کریم ﷺ میدان جنگ سے پیچھے نہیں ہٹے تھے، البتہ جلد باز قسم کے لوگ بھاگ پڑے تھے جب قبیلہ ہوازن نے تیروں سے ان کا مقابلہ کیا تھا۔ اس وقت نبی کریم ﷺ سفید خچر پر سوار تھے اور حضرت ابو سفیان بن حارث  ؓاس کی لگام پکڑے ہوئے تھے، ان حالات میں نبی کریم ﷺ فرمارہے تھے: ’’میں نبی برحق ہوں اس میں جھوٹ کو کوئی دخل نہیں۔ میں عبدالمطلب کا بیٹا ہوں۔‘‘

Hazrat Bara bin Azib (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, un se ek aadmi ne pucha: Ae Abu Umarah! Kya tum ne Ghazwah-e-Hunain ke moqa par peeth pher li thi? Unhon ne farmaya: Allah ki qasam! Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) maidan-e-jung se peeche nahi hate the, albatta jald-baaz qism ke log bhag paray the jab qabila Hawazin ne teeron se un ka muqabla kiya tha. Is waqt Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) sufaid khachar par sawar the aur Hazrat Abu Sufyan bin Harith (Radi Allahu Anhu) is ki lagam pakray hue the, in halat mein Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) farma rahe the: "Mein Nabi bar-haq hoon is mein jhoot ko koi dakhal nahi. Mein Abdul Muttalib ka beta hoon."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ : يَا أَبَا عُمَارَةَ وَلَّيْتُمْ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا وَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَكِنْ وَلَّى سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ ، فَلَقِيَهُمْ هَوَازِنُ بِالنَّبْلِ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الْبَيْضَاءِ ، وَأَبُو سُفْيَانَ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ آخِذٌ بِلِجَامِهَا ، وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : أَنَا النَّبِيُّ لَا كَذِبْ أَنَا ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبْ .
