Chapter: Drawing one or two buckets of water from a well

باب نَزْعِ الذَّنُوبِ وَالذَّنُوبَيْنِ مِنَ الْبِئْرِ بِضَعْفٍ

Sahih al-Bukhari 7020

Saalim's father narrated about the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) dream in which he has seen Abu Bakr and Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنهما). The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘I saw in a dream that the people had gathered. Then Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) stood up and pulled out one or two buckets full of water (from a well) and there was weakness in his pulling, may Allah forgive him. Then Ibn Al- Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) stood up, and the bucket turned into a very large one and I have never seen any strong man among the people doing such a hard job. He pulled out so much water that the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels to their fill, and then after quenching their thirst they sat beside the water.’

حضرت ابن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے حضرت ابوبکر صدیق ؓ اور حضرت عمر بن خطاب ؓ کے متعلق نبی ﷺ کا یاک خواب بیان کیا۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: میں نے لوگوں کو دیکھا کہ وہ جمع ہوگئے ہیں۔ اس دوران میں ابو بکر کھڑے ہوئے انہوں نے ایک یا دو ڈول پانی نکالا۔ ان کے پانی نکالنے میں کچھ کمزوری تھی۔ اللہ کی مغفرت فرمائے۔ پھر ابن خطاب کھڑے ہوئے تو ڈول ایک بڑے ڈول کی شکل اختیار کر گیا۔ میں نے لوگوں میں کسی کو اتنی مہارت کے ساتھ پانی نکالتے نہیں دیکھا یہاں تک کہ لوگوں نے حوض بھر لیے۔

Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai unhon ne Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allahu Anhu) aur Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (Radi Allahu Anhu) ke mutaliq Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka aik khawab bayan kiya. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: Main ne logon ko dekha ke woh jama hogaye hain. Is douran mein Abu Bakr kharay huye unhon ne aik ya do dowl pani nikala. Un ke pani nikaalne mein kuch kamzori thi. Allah ki maghfirat farmaye. Phir Ibn Khattab kharay huye to dowl aik bare dowl ki shakl ikhtiyar kar gaya. Main ne logon mein kisi ko itni maharat ke sath pani nikaalte nahin dekha yahan tak ke logon ne hauz bhar liye.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رُؤْيَا النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ ،وَعُمَرَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ اجْتَمَعُوا ، فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا ، فَمَا رَأَيْتُ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَفْرِي فَرْيَهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ .

Sahih al-Bukhari 7021

Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘while I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well over which there was a bucket. I pulled out from it as many buckets of water as Allah wished, and then Ibn Abi Quhafa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) took the bucket from me and pulled out one or two full buckets, and there was weakness in his pull, may Allah forgive him. Then the bucket turned into a very large one and Umar bin Al-Khattab ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) took it. I have never seen any strong man among the people, drawing water with such strength as Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) did, till the people (drank to their satisfaction and) watered their camels to their fill; whereupon the camels sat beside the water.’

حضرت ابو ہریرہ ؓ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”میں سو رہا تھا کہ اس دوران میں خود کو ایک کنویں پر دیکھا۔ وہاں ایک ڈول بھی تھا۔ جس قدر اللہ کو منظور تھا میں نے اس سے پانی نکالا۔ پھر اس ڈول کو ابن ابو قحافہ نے لے لیا۔ انہوں نے ایک یا ڈول نکالے اور ان کے پانی نکالنے میں کچھ کمزوری تھی اللہ تعالٰی ان کی بخشش کرے، پھر وہ بڑا ڈول بن گیا اور اسے عمر بن خطاب ؓ نے اٹھا لیا۔ میں نے کسی ماہر کو عمر کی طرح پانی کھینچتھے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا یہاں تک کہ لوگوں نے اونٹوں کے پینے کے لیے حوض بھر لیے۔“

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai unhon ne kaha ke Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Main so raha tha ke is douran mein khud ko aik kunwein par dekha. Wahan aik dowl bhi tha. Jis qadar Allah ko manzoor tha main ne is se pani nikala. Phir is dowl ko Ibn Abu Quhafah ne le liya. Unhon ne aik ya dowl nikale aur un ke pani nikaalne mein kuch kamzori thi Allah Ta'ala un ki bakhshish kare, phir woh bara dowl ban gaya aur usay Umar bin Khattab (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne utha liya. Main ne kisi mahir ko Umar ki tarah pani kheenchthe huye nahin dekha yahan tak ke logon ne oonton ke peene ke liye hauz bhar liye."

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُنِي عَلَى قَلِيبٍ وَعَلَيْهَا دَلْوٌ فَنَزَعْتُ مِنْهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَهَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ فَنَزَعَ مِنْهَا ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ ، وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا ، فَأَخَذَهَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَلَمْ أَرَ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَنْزِعُ نَزْعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ .
