Sahih al-Bukhari 1387
Narrated Hisham's father: Aisha said, I went to Abu Bakr (during his fatal illness) and he asked me, 'In how many garments was the Prophet shrouded?' She replied, 'In three Suhuliya pieces of white cloth of cotton, and there was neither a shirt nor a turban among them.' Abu Bakr further asked her, 'On which day did the Prophet die?' She replied, 'He died on Monday.' He asked, 'What is today?' She replied, 'Today is Monday.' He added, 'I hope I shall die sometime between this morning and tonight.' Then he looked at a garment that he was wearing during his illness and it had some stains of saffron. Then he said, 'Wash this garment of mine and add two more garments and shroud me in them.' I said, 'This is worn out.' He said, 'A living person has more right to wear new clothes than a dead one; the shroud is only for the body's pus.' He did not die till it was the night of Tuesday and was buried before the morning.
حضرت عائشہ ؓ سے روایت ہے ،انھوں نےفرمایا:میں حضرت ابو بکر ؓ کے پاس حاضر ہوئی تو انھوں نے فرمایا:تم نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو کتنے کپڑوں میں کفن دیا تھا؟میں نے جواب دیا:تین سحولی چادروں میں، جن میں نہ قمیص تھی اور نہ عمامہ ہی تھا۔ پھر انھوں نے فرمایا:نبی کریم ﷺ نے کس روز وفات پائی تھی؟ حضرت عائشہ ؓ نے کہا:پیر کے دن۔ ابو بکر ؓ نے فرمایا:آج کون سا دن ہے؟انھوں نے جواب دیا:آج پیر کا دن ہے۔ حضرت ابو بکر ؓ نے فرمایا:میں امید کرتا ہوں کہ اس وقت سے لے کر رات تک وفات پاجاؤں گا۔ پھر انھوں نے اپنے کپڑے کی طرف دیکھا جس میں وہ بیمار ہوئے تھے اور اس میں ایک زعفران کا نشان تھا، آپ نےفرمایا کہ میرے اسی کپڑے کو دھو ڈالو، اسی پر دو چادروں کااضافہ کردو اور ان میں مجھے کفن دینا، میں نےکہا:یہ کپڑا تو پراناہے۔ انھوں نےفرمایا:زندہ آدمی نئے کپڑوں کامردے سے زیادہ حقدار ہے، کیونکہ آخر کار کفن تو پیپ کی نذر ہونے والا ہے۔ پھر منگل کی رات انھوں نے وفات پائی اور صبح سے پہلے پہلے دفن کردیے گئے۔
Hazrat Aisha (Radhi Allahu Anha) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya: Main Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ke pas hazir hui to unhon ne farmaya: tum ne Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko kitne kapron mein kafan diya tha? Main ne jawab diya: teen sahooli chadaron mein, jin mein na qameez thi aur na amama hi tha. Phir unhon ne farmaya: Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne kis roz wafat payi thi? Hazrat Aisha (Radhi Allahu Anha) ne kaha: peer ke din. Abu Bakr (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ne farmaya: aaj kon sa din hai? Unhon ne jawab diya: aaj peer ka din hai. Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ne farmaya: main umeed karta hoon ke is waqt se le kar raat tak wafat paa jaoonga. Phir unhon ne apne kapre ki taraf dekha jis mein woh bimar hue the aur us mein ek zafran ka nishan tha, Aap ne farmaya ke mere isi kapre ko dho dalo, isi par do chadaron ka izafa kar do aur in mein mujhe kafan dena, main ne kaha: yeh kapra to purana hai. Unhon ne farmaya: zinda aadmi naye kapron ka murde se zyada haqdar hai, kyunke aakhir-e-kar kafan to peep ki nazar hone wala hai. Phir mangal ki raat unhon ne wafat payi aur subah se pehle pehle dafan kar diye gaye.
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا , قَالَتْ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , فَقَالَ : فِي كَمْ كَفَّنْتُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ , قَالَتْ : فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ سَحُولِيَّةٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ ، وَقَالَ لَهَا : فِي أَيِّ يَوْمٍ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ , قَالَتْ : يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَأَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا ؟ , قَالَتْ : يَوْمُ الِاثْنَيْنِ ، قَالَ : أَرْجُو فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ اللَّيْلِ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى ثَوْبٍ عَلَيْهِ كَانَ يُمَرَّضُ فِيهِ بِهِ رَدْعٌ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ ، فَقَالَ : اغْسِلُوا ثَوْبِي هَذَا وَزِيدُوا عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَيْنِ فَكَفِّنُونِي فِيهَا ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّ هَذَا خَلَقٌ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ الْحَيَّ أَحَقُّ بِالْجَدِيدِ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ لِلْمُهْلَةِ ، فَلَمْ يُتَوَفَّ حَتَّى أَمْسَى مِنْ لَيْلَةِ الثُّلَاثَاءِ ، وَدُفِنَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ .
