Chapter: Intercession for the reduction of debts

باب الشَّفَاعَةِ فِي وَضْعِ الدَّيْنِ
Sahih al-Bukhari 2406
(On another occasion) I took part in one of Ghazawat among with the Prophet and I was riding one of our camels. The camel got tired and was lagging behind the others. The Prophet hit it on its back. He said, Sell it to me, and you have the right to ride it till Medina.'' When we approached Medina, I took the permission from the Prophet to go to my house, saying, O Allah's Apostle! I have newly married. The Prophet asked, Have you married a virgin or a matron (a widow or divorcee)? I said, I have married a matron, as `Abdullah (my father) died and left behind daughters small in their ages, so I married a matron who may teach them and bring them up with good manners. The Prophet then said (to me), Go to your family. When I went there and told my maternal uncle about the selling of the camel, he admonished me for it. On that I told him about its slowness and exhaustion and about what the Prophet had done to the camel and his hitting it. When the Prophet arrived, I went to him with the camel in the morning and he gave me its price, the camel itself, and my share from the war booty as he gave the other people.
حضرت جابر ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کے ہمراہ ایک اونٹ پر جہاد کیا۔ وہ اونٹ تھک ہار کر لوگوں سے پیچھے رہ گیا۔ نبی ﷺ نے اسے پیچھے سے چھڑی ماری اور فرمایا: ’’اسے میرے ہاتھ فروخت کردو، تاہم تمھیں مدینے تک اس پر سفر کرنے کی اجازت ہو گی۔‘‘ جب ہم مدینہ طیبہ کے قریب آئے تو میں نے آگے جانے کی اجازت طلب کی اور بتایا کہ اے اللہ کے رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میں نے نئی نئی شادی کی ہے۔ آپ ﷺ نے دریافت فرمایا: ’’دوشیزہ سے نکاح کیا ہے یا شوہر دیدہ سے؟‘‘ میں نے عرض کیا: شوہر آشنا سے شادی کی ہے وہ اس لیے کہ (میرے والد گرامی)حضرت عبد اللہ ؓ شہید ہو گئے تو انھوں نے چھوٹی چھوٹی بچیاں چھوڑیں، اس لیے میں نے ایک بیوہ سے شادی کی تاکہ وہ انھیں تعلیم دے اورتہذیب سکھائے۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ’’تم اپنے اہل خانہ کے ہاں جاؤ۔‘‘ میں نے گھر آکر اپنے ماموں کو اپنا اونٹ فروخت کرنے کا بتایا تو اس نے مجھے بڑی ملامت کی۔ میں نے اسے اپنے اونٹ کے تھک جانے کا، نبی ﷺ نے جو کچھ کیا اس کا، نیز اسے چھڑی مارنے کا واقعہ سنایا۔ حضرت جابر ؓ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ جب تشریف لائے تو صبح کے وقت میں بھی آپ کی خدمت میں اونٹ لے کر حاضر ہوا۔ آپ نے مجھے اونٹ کی قیمت دی اور اونٹ بھی واپس کر دیا۔ اس کے علاوہ لوگوں کے ساتھ غنیمت میں میرا حصہ بھی دے دیا۔
Hazrat Jabir (radiyallahu anhu) bayan karte hain ke main ne Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ke humrah ek oont par jihad kiya. Wo oont thak haar kar logon se peeche reh gaya. Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne ise peeche se chari mari aur farmaya: ''Ise mere hath farokht kar do, tahum tumhein Madine tak is par safar karne ki ijazat hogi.'' Jab hum Madina Tayyaba ke qareeb aaye to main ne aage jane ki ijazat talab ki aur bataya ke aye Allah ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)! Main ne nayi nayi shadi ki hai. Aap (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne daryaft farmaya: ''Doshiza se nikah kiya hai ya shohar-deeda se?'' Main ne arz kiya: Shohar-ashna se shadi ki hai wo is liye ke (mere walid-e-girami) Hazrat Abdullah (radiyallahu anhu) shaheed ho gaye to unhon ne chhoti chhoti bachiyan chorein, is liye main ne ek bewa se shadi ki taake wo unhein taleem de aur tehzeeb sikhaye. Phir Aap ne farmaya: ''Tum apne ahl-e-khana ke haan jao.'' Main ne ghar aakar apne mamoon ko apna oont farokht karne ka bataya to us ne mujhe bari malamat ki. Main ne ise apne oont ke thak jane ka, Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne jo kuch kiya is ka, neez ise chari marne ka waqia sunaya. Hazrat Jabir (radiyallahu anhu) kehte hain ke Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) jab tashreef laye to subah ke waqt main bhi Aap ki khidmat mein oont le kar hazir hua. Aap ne mujhe oont ki qemat di aur oont bhi wapis kar diya. Is ke ilawa logon ke sath ghaneemat mein mera hissa bhi de diya.
وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نَاضِحٍ لَنَا ، فَأَزْحَفَ الْجَمَلُ فَتَخَلَّفَ عَلَيَّ فَوَكَزَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ، قَالَ : بِعْنِيهِ ، وَلَكَ ظَهْرُهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا اسْتَأْذَنْتُ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِعُرْسٍ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَمَا تَزَوَّجْتَ بِكْرًا أَمْ ثَيِّبًا ؟ قُلْتُ : ثَيِّبًا أُصِيبَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَتَرَكَ جَوَارِيَ صِغَارًا ، فَتَزَوَّجْتُ ثَيِّبًا تُعَلِّمُهُنَّ وَتُؤَدِّبُهُنَّ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : ائْتِ أَهْلَكَ ، فَقَدِمْتُ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُ خَالِي بِبَيْعِ الْجَمَلِ فَلَامَنِي ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِإِعْيَاءِ الْجَمَلِ وَبِالَّذِي كَانَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَوَكْزِهِ إِيَّاهُ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَدَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ بِالْجَمَلِ ، فَأَعْطَانِي ثَمَنَ الْجَمَلِ ، وَالْجَمَلَ وَسَهْمِي مَعَ الْقَوْمِ .
