Chapter: How the Divine Revelation started being revealed to Allah's Messenger
١
باب كَيْفَ كَانَ بَدْءُ الْوَحْىِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah Al-Ansari, while talking about the period of pause in revelation, reporting the speech of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) 'While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid and came back home and said, Wrap me (in blankets). And then Allah (جَلَّ ذُو) revealed the following Verses. [ ُيَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدهثِِّر- ْقُمْ فَأَنذِر- َْ رَبهكَ فَكَبِِّرو- َْ ثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِِّرو- َْ الرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرو - 'O you (the Prophet ﷺ)! wrapped up in garments! Arise and warn (the people). And glorify your Lord. And purify your clothing. And avoid uncleanliness.] (Al-Muddaththir - 1-5) After this, the revelations started coming strongly, frequently and regularly.
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ انصاریؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کی زبانی بندش وحی کا واقعہ سنا، آپ نے بیان فرمایا: ’’ایک بار میں (کہیں) جا رہا تھا کہ مجھے اچانک آسمان سے ایک آواز سنائی دی، میں نے نگاہ اٹھائی تو دیکھا کہ وہی فرشتہ جو میرے پاس غار حرا میں آیا تھا، آسمان و زمین کے درمیان ایک کرسی پر بیٹھا ہوا ہے۔ میں اسے دیکھ کر سخت دہشت زدہ ہو گیا۔ گھر لوٹ کر میں نے اہل خانہ سے کہ: مجھے چادر اوڑھاؤ، مجھے چادر اوڑھاؤ۔ (انہوں نے مجھے چادر اوڑھا دی۔) اس وقت اللہ تعالیٰ نے وحی نازل کی: ’’اے لحاف میں لپٹنے والے! اٹھو اور خبردار کرو، اپنے رب کی بڑائی کا اعلان کرو، اور اپنے کپڑے پاک رکھو، اور گندگی سے دور رہو۔‘‘ پھر نزول وحی میں تیزی آ گئی اور لگاتار نازل ہونے لگی۔‘‘ اس حدیث کو (لیث بن سعد سے یحییٰ بن بکیر کے علاوہ) عبداللہ بن یوسف اور ابوصالح (عبداللہ بن صالح) نے بھی روایت کیا ہے۔ اور ابن شہاب زہری سے (عقیل کے علاوہ) ہلال بن رداد نے بھی بیان کیا ہے، نیز یونس اور معمر نے (گزشتہ حدیث میں مذکور فُؤَادُهُ کے بجائے) بَوَادِرُهُ کے الفاظ ذکر کیے ہیں۔
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne Rasul Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki zubani bandish-e-Wahi ka waqia suna, aap ne bayan farmaya: ''Ek baar main (kahin) ja raha tha ke mujhe achaanak aasman se ek awaaz sunai di, main ne nigah uthai to dekha ke wahi farishta jo mere paas Ghar-e-Hira mein aaya tha, aasman o zameen ke darmiyan ek kursi par baitha hua hai. Main use dekh kar sakht dehshatzada ho gaya. Ghar laut kar main ne ahl-e-khana se kaha: Mujhe chadar orhao, mujhe chadar orhao. (Unhon ne mujhe chadar orha di.) Us waqt Allah Ta'ala ne Wahi nazil ki: ''Ae lihaf mein lipatne wale! Utho aur khabardar karo, apne Rabb ki barai ka elaan karo, aur apne kapre pak rakho, aur gandagi se door raho.'' Phir nazool-e-Wahi mein tezi aa gayi aur lagatar nazil hone lagi.'' Is hadees ko (Laith bin Saad se Yahya bin Bukair ke ilawa) Abdullah bin Yusuf aur Abu Salih (Abdullah bin Salih) ne bhi riwayat kiya hai. Aur Ibn Shihab Zuhri se (Aqeel ke ilawa) Hilal bin Raddad ne bhi bayan kiya hai, neez Yunus aur Ma'mar ne (guzehta hadees mein mazkoor fu'aduhu ke bajaye) bawadiruhu ke alfaaz zikr kiye hain.
قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ ، قَالَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْيِ ، فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : بَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي إِذْ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي ، فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ جَالِسٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، فَرُعِبْتُ مِنْهُ فَرَجَعْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : زَمِّلُونِي ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى : يَأَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ { 1 } قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ { 2 } سورة المدثر آية 1-2 ، فَحَمِيَ الْوَحْيُ وَتَتَابَعَ ، تَابَعَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، وَأَبُو صَالِحٍ ، وَتَابَعَهُ هِلَالُ بْنُ رَدَّادٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، وَقَالَ يُونُسُ ، وَمَعْمَرٌ بَوَادِرُهُ .
