"And We made not the vision which We showed you (O Muḥammad [pbuh] as an actual eye-witness and not as a dream on the night of Al-Isrā') , but a trial for mankind..." (V.17:60)

Sahih al-Bukhari 4716
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Regarding: 'And We granted the vision (Ascension to the Heaven Miraj ) which We showed you (O Muhammad as an actual eye witness) but as a trial for mankind.' (17.60) It was an actual eyewitness which was shown to Allah's Messenger during the night he was taken on a journey (through the heavens). And the cursed tree is the tree of Az-Zaqqum (a bitter pungent tree which grows at the bottom of Hell).
حضرت ابن عباس ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے درج ذیل آیت کے متعلق فرمایا: "اور وہ مناظر جو ہم نے آپ کو دکھائے تھے وہ لوگوں کے لیے صاف آزمائش ہی تھے" اس رویا سے مراد آنکھ کا دیکھنا ہے جو رسول اللہ ﷺ کو شب معراج میں دکھایا گیا۔" اور وہ درخت جس پر قرآن میں لعنت کی گئی ہے" اس سے مراد تھوہر کا درخت ہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne darj zail ayat ke mutaliq farmaya: \"Aur woh munazir jo hum ne aap ko dikhaye thay woh logon ke liye saaf aazmaish hi thay\" is ru'ya se murad aankh ka dekhna hai jo Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko Shab-e-Meraj mein dikhaya gaya. \"Aur woh darakht jis par Quran mein lanat ki gayi hai\" is se murad thohar ka darakht hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ سورة الإسراء آية 60 ، قَالَ : هِيَ رُؤْيَا عَيْنٍ ، أُرِيَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ ، وَالشَّجَرَةَ الْمَلْعُونَةَ سورة الإسراء آية 60 ، شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ .
