باب قَوْلِهِ {وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لاَ تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلاَ تَخْشَى * فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَغَشِيَهُمْ مِنَ الْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ * وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَ

Sahih al-Bukhari 4737
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When Allah's Messenger arrived at Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram). The Prophet asked them (about it) and they replied, This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh. The Prophet said (to the Muslims), We are nearer to Moses than they, so fast on this day.
حضرت ابن عباس ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا: جب رسول اللہ ﷺ مدینہ طیبہ تشریف لائے تو یہودی عاشوراء کا روزہ رکھتے تھے۔ آپ ﷺ نے ان سے اس کے متعلق دریافت کیا تو انہوں نے بتایا کہ اس دن حضرت موسٰی ؑ نے فرعون پر غلبہ پایا تھا۔ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’ہم ان کے مقابلے میں حضرت موسٰی ؑ کے زیادہ حق دار ہیں۔ مسلمانو! تم بھی اس دن کا روزہ رکھا کرو۔‘‘
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha: Jab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Madina Tayyiba tashreef laye to Yahudi Ashura ka roza rakhte thay. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne in se is ke mutaliq daryaft kiya to unhon ne bataya ke is din Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne Firaun par ghalba paya tha. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: ''Hum in ke muqable mein Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ke zyada haq dar hain. Musalmano! Tum bhi is din ka roza rakha karo.''
حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالْيَهُودُ تَصُومُ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ ، فَسَأَلَهُمْ ، فَقَالُوا : هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي ظَهَرَ فِيهِ مُوسَى عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : نَحْنُ أَوْلَى بِمُوسَى مِنْهُمْ فَصُومُوهُ .
