Sahih al-Bukhari 6134
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: Allah's Apostle entered upon me and said, Have I not been informed that you offer prayer all the night and fast the whole day? I said, Yes. He said, Do not do so; Offer prayer at night and also sleep; Fast for a few days and give up fasting for a few days because your body has a right on you, and your eye has a right on you, and your guest has a right on you, and your wife has a right on you. I hope that you will have a long life, and it is sufficient for you to fast for three days a month as the reward of a good deed, is multiplied ten times, that means, as if you fasted the whole year. I insisted (on fasting more) so I was given a hard instruction. I said, I can do more than that (fasting) The Prophet said, Fast three days every week. But as I insisted (on fasting more) so I was burdened. I said, I can fast more than that. The Prophet said, Fast as Allah's prophet David used to fast. I said, How was the fasting of the prophet David? The Prophet said, One half of a year (i.e. he used to fast on alternate days). '
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو ؓ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ میرے پاس تشریف لائے تو فرمایا: کیا میری خبرصحیح ہے کہ تم رات بھی قیام کرتے ہو اور دن کا روزہ رکھتے ہو؟ میں نے کہا : جی ہاں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ایسا نہ کرو، نماز پڑھو اور آرام بھی کرو، روزہ رکھو اور افطار بھی کرو۔ بے شک تمہارے جسم کا تم پر حق ہے تمہاری آنکھوں کا تم پر حق ہے تم سے ملاقات کے لیے آنے والوں کا بھی تم پر حق ہے تمہاری بیوی کا بھی تم پر حق ہے۔ امید ہے کہ تمہاری عمر لمبی ہوگی۔ تمیارے لیے یہی کافی ہے کہ ہر مہینے میں تین روزے رکھو کیونکہ ہر نیکی کا بدلہ دس گناہ ملتا ہے اس طرح زندگی بھر کے روزوں کا ثواب ہوگا۔“ حضرت عبداللہ بن عمرو ؓ نے کہا: میں نے اپنی جان پر سختی کی تو مجھ پر سختی کر دی گئی میں نے کہا: میں اس سے بھی زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”پھر تم اللہ کے نبی حضرت داود ؑ کی طرح رکھو۔“ میں نے عرض کی: اللہ کے نبی داود ؑ کا روزہ کیا تھا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”نصف زمانے (آدھی زندگی) کے روزے یعنی ایک دن روزہ اور ایک دن افطار۔“
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai unhon ne kaha ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) mere paas tashreef laye to farmaya: Kya meri khabar sahih hai ke tum raat bhi qayam karte ho aur din ka roza rakhte ho? Main ne kaha: Jee haan. Aap ne farmaya: "Aisa na karo, namaz parho aur aaram bhi karo, roza rakho aur iftar bhi karo. Beshak tumhare jism ka tum par haqq hai tumhari aankhon ka tum par haqq hai tum se mulaqat ke liye aane walon ka bhi tum par haqq hai tumhari biwi ka bhi tum par haqq hai. Umeed hai ke tumhari umar lambi hogi. Tumhare liye yahi kafi hai ke har mahine mein teen roze rakho kyunke har neki ka badla das guna milta hai is tarah zindagi bhar ke rozon ka sawab hoga." Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha: Main ne apni jaan par sakhti ki to mujh par sakhti kar di gai main ne kaha: Main is se bhi zyada ki taqat rakhta hoon. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Phir tum Allah ke Nabi Hazrat Dawood (Alaihis Salam) ki tarah rakho." Main ne arz ki: Allah ke Nabi Dawood (Alaihis Salam) ka roza kya tha? Aap ne farmaya: "Nisf zamane (aadhi zindagi) ke roze yaani ek din roza aur ek din iftar."
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : أَلَمْ أُخْبَرْ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ وَتَصُومُ النَّهَارَ قُلْتُ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَلَا تَفْعَلْ قُمْ وَنَمْ وَصُمْ وَأَفْطِرْ ، فَإِنَّ لِجَسَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا ، وَإِنَّ لِعَيْنِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا ، وَإِنَّ لِزَوْرِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا ، وَإِنَّ لِزَوْجِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا ، وَإِنَّكَ عَسَى أَنْ يَطُولَ بِكَ عُمُرٌ ، وَإِنَّ مِنْ حَسْبِكَ أَنْ تَصُومَ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، فَإِنَّ بِكُلِّ حَسَنَةٍ عَشْرَ أَمْثَالِهَا فَذَلِكَ الدَّهْرُ كُلُّهُ قَالَ : فَشَدَّدْتُ فَشُدِّدَ عَلَيَّ ، فَقُلْتُ : فَإِنِّي أُطِيقُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : فَصُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ قَالَ : فَشَدَّدْتُ فَشُدِّدَ عَلَيَّ ، قُلْتُ : أُطِيقُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : فَصُمْ صَوْمَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ دَاوُدَ قُلْتُ : وَمَا صَوْمُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ دَاوُدَ ؟ قَالَ : نِصْفُ الدَّهْرِ .
