Chapter: The salaries of rulers and those employed to administer the funds

باب رِزْقِ الْحُكَّامِ وَالْعَامِلِينِ عَلَيْهَا
Sahih al-Bukhari 7164
Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he heard Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) saying, ‘the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to give me some money (grant) and I would say (to him), 'give it to a more needy one than me.' Once he gave me some money and I said, 'give it to a more needy one than me.' The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said (to me), 'take it and keep it in your possession and then give it in charity. Take whatever comes to you of this money while you are not keen to have it and not asking for it; take it, but you should not seek to have what you are not given.’
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے سیدنا عمر ؓ سے سنا،انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ نبی ﷺ مجھے کچھ مال عطا کرتے تو میں کہتا: آپ یہ اسے دیں جو اس کا مجھ سے زیادہ ضرورت مند ہو حتیٰ کہ آپ نے مجھے ایک مرتبہ مال دیا تو میں نے کہا: آپ یہ مال اس شخص کو دے دیں جو اس کا مجھ سے زیادہ ضرورت مند ہو۔ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اسے لے لو اور اس کا مالک بننے کے بعد اسے صدقہ کردو۔ یہ مال جب تمہیں اس طرح ملے کہ تم اس کے خواہش مند نہ ہو اور نہ تم نے مانگا ہوتو اسے لے لیا کرو جو اس طرح نہ ملے تو اس کے پیچھے نہ پڑا کرو،“
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai unhon ne kaha ke main ne Sayyiduna Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se suna, unhon ne bayan kiya ke Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mujhe kuch maal ata karte to main kehta: Aap yeh usay dein jo is ka mujh se zyada zaroorat-mand ho hatta ke aap ne mujhe aik martaba maal diya to i ne kaha: Aap yeh maal is shakhs ko de dein jo is ka mujh se zyada zaroorat-mand ho. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Isay le lo aur is ka malik banne ke baad usay sadqa kardo. Yeh maal jab tumhein is tarah mile ke tum is ke khwahish-mand na ho aur na tum ne manga ho to usay le liya karo jo is tarah na mile to is ke peeche na para karo."
وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْطِينِي الْعَطَاءَ ، فَأَقُولُ : أَعْطِهِ أَفْقَرَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي ، حَتَّى أَعْطَانِي مَرَّةً مَالًا ، فَقُلْتُ : أَعْطِهِ مَنْ هُوَ أَفْقَرُ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : خُذْهُ فَتَمَوَّلْهُ وَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ ، فَمَا جَاءَكَ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَأَنْتَ غَيْرُ مُشْرِفٍ وَلَا سَائِلٍ فَخُذْهُ وَمَالَا ، فَلَا تُتْبِعْهُ نَفْسَكَ .
