Chapter on the virtue of deeds during the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah

باب في فضل العمل في العشر

Sunan al-Darimi 1811

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There are no days that are greater before Allah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, so increase in them the saying of Tahlil (La ilaha ill-Allah), Takbir (Allahu Akbar) and Tahmid (Alhamdulillah)." It was asked, "Not even Jihad?" He said, "Not even Jihad, except for a man who goes out himself and his wealth and does not come back with anything." (Meaning he sacrificed his life and wealth).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ذوالحجہ کے دس دن کے عمل سے زیادہ کسی دن کے عمل میں اتنی فضیلت نہیں“، پوچھا گیا: کیا جہاد کی بھی اتنی فضیلت نہیں؟ فرمایا: ”ہاں، جہاد بھی نہیں سوائے اس شخص کے جو اپنی جان و مال خطرے میں ڈال کر نکلا، اور کچھ بھی لے کر واپس نہ آیا۔“ (یعنی جان و مال سب قربان کر دیا)۔

Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai: Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Zulhijja ke das din ke amal se zyada kisi din ke amal mein itni fazilat nahi“, poocha gaya: kya jihad ki bhi itni fazilat nahi? Farmaya: ”haan, jihad bhi nahi siwaye us shakhs ke jo apni jaan o maal khatre mein daal kar nikla, aur kuchh bhi le kar wapas na aaya.“ (yani jaan o maal sab qurban kar diya).

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُسْلِمًا الْبَطِينَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهِ عَنْهُمَا، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَا الْعَمَلُ، فِي أَيَّامٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ الْعَمَلِ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ". قِيلَ: وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ:"وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، إِلَّا رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْجِعْ بِشَيْءٍ".

Sunan al-Darimi 1812

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no deed dearer to Allah than a deed done in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” It was said: “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said: “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who goes out, giving himself and his wealth up for the cause (of Allah) and does not return with any of it.” The narrator said: Because of this, Sa‘eed ibn Jubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to strive hard in worship during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, more than he would at other times.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”الله عزوجل کے نزدیک کوئی نیک عمل اتنا عظیم تر نہیں جتنا عمل بندہ عشرہ اضحیٰ میں کرتا ہے“، عرض کیا گیا: الله عزوجل کے راستے میں جہاد بھی نہیں؟ فرمایا: ”ہاں، اللہ کے راستے میں جہاد بھی نہیں سوائے اس شخص کے جو اپنا نفس اور مال لے کر (جہاد کے لئے) نکلا اور ان میں سے کچھ بھی ساتھ لے کر واپس نہ آیا۔“ راوی نے کہا: اس لئے سیدنا سعید بن جبیر رضی اللہ عنہ ذوالحجہ کے شروع عشرے میں عبادت میں اپنی طاقت سے زیادہ محنت کرتے تھے۔

Sayyida Ibne Abbas Razi Allah Anhuma se marvi hai ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Allah Azzawajal ke nazdeek koi nek amal itna azeem tar nahi jitna amal banda Ashra e Azha mein karta hai“, arz kiya gaya: Allah Azzawajal ke raaste mein jihad bhi nahi? Farmaya: ”Haan, Allah ke raaste mein jihad bhi nahi siwaye us shaks ke jo apna nafs aur maal le kar (jihad ke liye) nikla aur in mein se kuch bhi saath le kar wapas na aaya.“ Rawi ne kaha: Is liye Sayyiduna Saeed bin Jubair Razi Allah Anhu Zulhijja ke shuru ashra mein ibadat mein apni taqat se zyada mehnat karte the.

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَصْبَغُ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَا مِنْ عَمَلٍ أَزْكَى عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَلَا أَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا، مِنْ خَيْرٍ يَعْمَلُهُ فِي عَشْرِ الْأَضْحَى". قِيلَ: وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ:"وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، إِلَّا رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْءٍ". قَالَ: وَكَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَيَّامُ الْعَشْرِ، اجْتَهَدَ اجْتِهَادًا شَدِيدًا حَتَّى مَا يَكَادُ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ.
