Chapter on praying inside the Kaaba

باب الصلاة في الكعبة

Sunan al-Darimi 1906

The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: “If your people were not close to the time of disbelief, I would have demolished the Kaaba and rebuilt it on the foundations of Abraham, peace be upon him. When Quraysh rebuilt it, they shortened it (due to lack of resources). I would have rebuilt it and made another door at the back.”

ام المومنین سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: مجھ سے رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اگر تمہاری قوم زمانہ کفر سے قریب نہ ہوتی تو میں خانہ کعبہ کو توڑ دیتا اور اس کو ابراہیم علیہ السلام کی بنیاد پر تعمیر کرتا، قریش نے جب اس کی تعمیر کی تھی تو (سامان کی قلت کی وجہ سے) اس میں کمی کر دی، میں دوبارہ تعمیر کرتا اور پیچھے ایک اور دروازہ بنا دیتا۔“

Um ul momineen Sayyida Ayesha raziallahu anha ne kaha: mujh se Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Agar tumhari qaum zamana kufr se qareeb na hoti to main Khana Kaaba ko tod deta aur isko Ibrahim alaihissalam ki bunyad par tameer karta, Quresh ne jab iski tameer ki thi to (saman ki qillat ki wajah se) isme kami kar di, main dobara tameer karta aur peeche ek aur darwaza bana deta.”

حَدَّثَنِي فَرْوَةُ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَوْلَا حَدَاثَةُ عَهْدِ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ، لَنَقَضْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ ثُمَّ لَبَنَيْتُهَا عَلَى أُسِّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَإِنَّ قُرَيْشًا حِينَ بَنَتْ اسْتَقْصَرَتْ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْ لَهَا خَلْفًا".

Sunan al-Darimi 1907

Aishah Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), 'Is Hateem a part of the Ka'bah?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Then why did they not include it within the structure of the Ka'bah?' He said, 'Your people ran short of funds.' I said, 'Then why did they make its gate so high?' He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'Your people did that so they could admit into it whomever they wished, and prevent whomever they wished. Were it not that your people are still close to the days of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance), I would have included Hateem within the structure of the Ka'bah and I would have lowered its gate to the ground. I fear that (such a change) would not be accepted by their hearts.'"

سیدہ عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے پوچھا: کیا حطیم بھی بیت الله میں داخل ہے؟ فرمایا: ”ہاں“، میں نے عرض کیا: پھر لوگوں نے اسے کعبہ میں شامل کیوں نہیں کیا؟ فرمایا: ”تمہاری قوم کے پاس سامان تعمیر کی قلت ہو گئی تھی“، میں نے عرض کیا: پھر دروازه اتنا اونچا کیوں رکھا؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تمہاری قوم نے ایسا اس لئے کیا کہ جسے چاہیں اندر جانے دیں اور جسے چاہیں روک دیں، اگر تمہاری قوم کے لوگ زمانہ جاہلیت سے قریب نہ ہوتے تو میں حطیم کو خانہ کعبہ میں ملا دیتا اور دروازہ بھی زمین سے لگا دیتا، مجھے ڈر ہے کہ ان کے دل اس (تبدیلی) کو قبول نہ کریں گے۔“

Sayyidah Ayesha Siddiqa ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne kaha: mein ne Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha: kya Hateem bhi Baitullah mein dakhil hai? Farmaya: "Haan", mein ne arz kiya: phir logon ne ise Kaaba mein shamil kyun nahi kiya? Farmaya: "Tumhari qaum ke paas saman tameer ki qillat ho gayi thi", mein ne arz kiya: phir darwaza itna ooncha kyun rakha? Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Tumhari qaum ne aisa is liye kiya ke jise chahein andar jaane dein aur jise chahein rok dein, agar tumhari qaum ke log zamana jahiliyat se qareeb na hote to mein Hateem ko khana Kaaba mein mila deta aur darwaza bhi zameen se laga deta, mujhe dar hai ke un ke dil is (tabdeeli) ko qubool na karenge.".

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْحَجَرِ: أَمِنَ الْبَيْتِ هُوَ؟. قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قُلْتُ: فَمَا لَهُمْ لَمْ يُدْخِلُوهُ فِي الْبَيْتِ؟ فَقَالَ:"إِنَّ قَوْمَكِ قَصَّرَتْ بِهِمْ النَّفَقَةُ". قُلْتُ: فَمَا شَأْنُ بَابِهِ مُرْتَفِعًا؟ قَالَ:"فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ قَوْمُكِ لِيُدْخِلُوا مَنْ شَاءُوا وَيَمْنَعُوا مَنْ شَاءُوا، وَلَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ فَأَخَافُ أَنْ تُنْكِرَ قُلُوبُهُمْ، لَعَمَدْتُ إِلَى الْحِجْرِ فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَأَلْزَقْتُ بَابَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ".
