Sunan al-Darimi 260
Imam Hasan Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Whoever seeks some of this knowledge with the intention of reward from Allah Almighty, if Allah wills, he will acquire it (religious knowledge), and whoever intends to gain the world through this knowledge, then by Allah, he will get the world. Meaning, «﴿وَمَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ﴾» [Al-Baqarah: 200/2] "And he will have no share in the Hereafter."

امام حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: جس نے الله تعالیٰ سے اجر کی نیت سے اس علم میں سے کچھ طلب کیا، اللہ چاہے گا تو وہ اسے (علم دین کو) حاصل کر لے گا، اور جس نے اس علم کے ذریعہ دنیا حاصل کرنے کی نیت رکھی، تو قسم اللہ کی اس کو دنیا مل جائے گی۔ یعنی «﴿وَمَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ﴾» [بقره: 200/2] آخرت میں ان کا کچھ حصہ نہ ہو گا۔
Imam Hasan Basri rehmatullah alaih ne farmaya: Jis ne Allah ta'ala se ajr ki niyat se is ilm mein se kuch talab kiya, Allah chahe ga to wo use (ilm-e-deen ko) hasil kar le ga, aur jis ne is ilm ke zariye duniya hasil karne ki niyat rakhi, to qasam Allah ki us ko duniya mil jaye gi. Ya'ni (wa ma lahu fil akhirati min khalaq) [Baqarah: 200/2] Aakhirat mein un ka kuch hissa na ho ga.
(حديث موقوف) أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: "مَنْ طَلَبَ شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذَا الْعِلْمِ، فَأَرَادَ بِهِ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ، يُدْرِكْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، وَمَنْ أَرَادَ بِهِ الدُّنْيَا، فَذَاكَ وَاللَّهِ حَظُّهُ مِنْهُ".
