Sunan al-Darimi 84
Sayyiduna 'Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away on Monday, and (his blessed body) remained (in his house) throughout the day and night of Monday and Tuesday. He was buried on Wednesday night. (Some) people said, ‘He has not died, but his soul has been taken (to the heavens) just as Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, was taken.’ Thereupon, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has not died, but his soul has been taken up just as the soul of Musa (Moses) was taken up to heaven. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will not die until he cuts off the hands and tongues of all these nations!’” Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) continued speaking until foam began to come out of his mouth due to the intensity of his emotion. Then, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away. Indeed, he was a human being and has aged, just as a human being ages. O people! Bury your master. He is highly honored by Allah, the Exalted. Allah will not give him death twice. All of you will die once, while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) should die twice? (This cannot be) You are greatly honored and respected by Allah! O people! Bury your master. And as you say (that he has not died), if that is the case, then it is not difficult for Allah, the Exalted, to make the earth seek him out.” By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away when he has made clear the entire path, making lawful what is lawful and unlawful what is unlawful, performing marriages, issuing divorces, engaging in war, and making peace. There is no shepherd among you who tends to his flock, taking them to the mountaintops and fetching leaves for them with his stick, leading them to the pond for water, who is more hardworking and tirelessly devoted than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Rise, O people! Bury your master.” The narrator said, “Sayyida Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) was weeping. She was asked, ‘Are you weeping for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?’ She said, ‘By Allah, I am not weeping for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Do I not know that he has gone to a place far better than this world? I am weeping because the revelation from the heavens has ceased.’” The narrator of the hadith, Hammad, said, “When Ayyub reached this point (in his narration), his voice choked with tears.”
سیدنا عکرمہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا رسول اللہ ﷺ نے پیر کے روز وفات پائی اور آپ (کا جسد خاکی) پیر کے دن اور رات، منگل کے دن تک رکھا رہا، بدھ کی رات کو آپ کو دفن کیا گیا، (کچھ) لوگوں نے کہا آپ مرے نہیں ہیں آپ کی روح کو (آسمان پر) لے جایا گیا ہے جس طرح موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو لے جایا گیا، چنانچہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ مرے نہیں بلکہ آپ کی روح کو ویسے ہی اوپر لے جایا گیا ہے جیسے موسٰی کی روح کو آسمان پر لے جایا گیا، والله رسول اللہ ﷺ ان تمام قوموں کے جب تک ہاتھ اور زبانیں کاٹ نہ دیں آپ مر ہی نہیں سکتے، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ گفتگو کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ شدت ولولہ سے آپ کے منہ سے جھاگ نکلنے لگے، پھر سیدنا عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ فوت ہو چکے ہیں، بیشک آپ بشر ہیں اور بوڑھے ہوئے، جس طرح انسان بشر بوڑھا ہوتا ہے، اے لوگو! اپنے صاحب کو دفن کر دو، آپ اللہ تعالی کے نزدیک بڑے مکرم ہیں، آپ کو اللہ تعالی دو بار موت نہیں دے گا، تم سب تو ایک بار مارے جاؤ اور آپ ﷺ کو دو دو بار موت آئے؟ (یہ نہیں ہو سکتا) آپ تو اللہ کے نزدیک بڑے معزز و مکرم ہیں۔ لوگو! اپنے صاحب کو دفن کر دو، اور جیسا کہ تم کہتے ہو (کہ آپ کو موت نہیں آئی) اگر ویسا ہی ہے تو الله تعالی کے لئے کوئی مشکل و دشوار نہیں ہے کہ مٹی خود آپ کو تلاش کر لے۔ قسم اللہ کی! رسول الله ﷺ نے اس وقت انتقال فرمایا ہے جب کہ آپ سارا راستہ واضح کر چکے، حلال کو حلال اور حرام کو حرام کر دیا، نکاح کیا، طلاق دی، جنگ کی، اور مصالحت بھی کی۔ کوئی بھی (چرواہا) بکریوں کی دیکھ بھال کرنے والا، جو اپنے ریوڑ کو لے کر پہاڑوں کی چوٹیوں پر جا کر ان کے لئے اپنی چھڑی سے درخت سے پتے گرائے، انہیں پانی کے لئے حوض (تالاب) پر لے جائے، تم میں سے ایسا کوئی بھی شخص رسول اللہ ﷺ سے زیادہ جفاکش اور محنتی تھکنے والا نہ ہو گا، اٹھو لوگو! اپنے صاحب کو دفن کر دو۔ راوی نے کہا: سیدہ ام ایمن رضی اللہ عنہا رو پڑی تھیں، پوچھا گیا کیا رسول اللہ ﷺ پر روتی ہو؟کہا: اللہ کی قسم میں رسول اللہ ﷺ پر نہیں رو رہی، کیا مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ آپ ایسی جگہ تشریف لے گئے ہیں جو آپ کے لئے دنیا سے بدرجہا بہتر ہے، مجھے تو رونا اس بات پر آ رہا ہے کہ آسمان سے وحی کا نزول منقطع ہو گیا۔ راوی حدیث حماد کا کہنا ہے کہ ایوب جب اس مقام تک پہنچے تو آنسوؤں سے ان کی آواز رُندھ گئی۔
Sayyidna Akarma razi Allah anhu ne kaha Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne peer ke roz wafat paai aur aap (ka jism khaki) peer ke din aur raat, mangal ke din tak rakha raha, budh ki raat ko aap ko dafan kiya gaya, (kuchh) logon ne kaha aap mare nahin hain aap ki rooh ko (aasman par) le jaya gaya hai jis tarah Musa alaihissalam ko le jaya gaya, chunanche Sayyidna Umar razi Allah anhu khade hue aur kaha: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mare nahin balki aap ki rooh ko waise hi upar le jaya gaya hai jaise Musa ki rooh ko aasman par le jaya gaya, wallahu Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in tamam qaumon ke jab tak hath aur zabanen kaat na den aap mar hi nahin sakte, Sayyidna Umar razi Allah anhu guftagu karte rahe yahan tak ki shiddat walwala se aap ke munh se jhag nikalne lage, phir Sayyidna Abbas razi Allah anhu khade hue aur kaha ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) faut ho chuke hain, beshak aap bashar hain aur budhe hue, jis tarah insan bashar budha hota hai, ae logo! apne sahib ko dafan kar do, aap Allah ta'ala ke nazdeek bade mukarram hain, aap ko Allah ta'ala do bar maut nahin dega, tum sab to ek bar mare jao aur aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko do do bar maut aaye? (yeh nahin ho sakta) aap to Allah ke nazdeek bade muazziz o mukarram hain. Logo! apne sahib ko dafan kar do, aur jaisa ki tum kahte ho (ki aap ko maut nahin aai) agar waisa hi hai to Allah ta'ala ke liye koi mushkil o dushwar nahin hai ki mitti khud aap ko talash kar le. Qasam Allah ki! Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne us waqt inteqal farmaya hai jab ki aap sara rasta wazeh kar chuke, halal ko halal aur haram ko haram kar diya, nikah kiya, talaq di, jang ki, aur musalahat bhi ki. Koi bhi (charwaha) bakriyon ki dekhbhal karne wala, jo apne rewad ko le kar paharon ki chhotiyon par ja kar un ke liye apni chhadi se darakht se patte girae, unhen pani ke liye hauz (talab) par le jaye, tum mein se aisa koi bhi shakhs Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se zyada jafakash aur mahnati thakanewala na ho ga, utho logo! apne sahib ko dafan kar do. Rawi ne kaha: Sayyida Umme Aiman razi Allah anha ro padi thin, poochha gaya kya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) par roti ho? kaha: Allah ki qasam mein Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) par nahin ro rahi, kya mujhe maloom nahin ki aap aisi jagah tashreef le gaye hain jo aap ke liye duniya se badarja behtar hai, mujhe to rona is baat par aa raha hai ki aasman se wahi ka nuzul munqata ho gaya. Rawi hadees Hammad ka kahna hai ki Ayyub jab is maqam tak pahunche to aansuon se un ki aawaz rundh gayi.
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ: "تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، فَحُبِسَ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ وَلَيْلَتَهُ وَالْغَدَ حَتَّى دُفِنَ لَيْلَةَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ، وَقَالُوا: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَمُتْ، وَلَكِنْ عُرِجَ بِرُوحِهِ كَمَا عُرِجَ بِرُوحِ مُوسَى، فَقَامَ عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَمُتْ، وَلَكِنْ عُرِجَ بِرُوحِهِ كَمَا عُرِجَ بِرُوحِ مُوسَى، وَاللَّهِ لَا يَمُوتُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى يَقْطَعَ أَيْدِيَ أَقْوَامٍ وَأَلْسِنَتَهُمْ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ عُمَرُ يَتَكَلَّمُ حَتَّى أَزْبَدَ شِدْقَاهُ مِمَّا يُوعِدُ وَيَقُولُ، فَقَامَ الْعَبَّاسُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ مَاتَ، وَإِنَّهُ لَبَشَرٌ وَإِنَّهُ يَأْسَنُ كَمَا يَأْسَنُ الْبَشَرُ، أَيْ قَوْمِ فَادْفِنُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ، فَإِنَّهُ أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ أَنْ يُمِيتَهُ إِمَاتَتَيْنِ، أَيُمِيتُ أَحَدَكُمْ إِمَاتَةً وَيُمِيتُهُ إِمَاتَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟، أَيْ قَوْمِ، فَادْفِنُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ، فَإِنْ يَكُ كَمَا تَقُولُونَ فَلَيْسَ بِعَزِيزٍ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يَبْحَثَ عَنْهُ التُّرَابَ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاللَّهِ مَا مَاتَ حَتَّى تَرَكَ السَّبِيلَ نَهْجًا وَاضِحًا، فَأَحَلَّ الْحَلَالَ، وَحَرَّمَ الْحَرَامَ، وَنَكَحَ وَطَلَّقَ، وَحَارَبَ وَسَالَمَ، مَا كَانَ رَاعِي غَنَمٍ يَتَّبِعُ بِهَا صَاحِبُهَا رُءُوسَ الْجِبَالِ يَخْبِطُ عَلَيْهَا الْعِضَاهَ بِمِخْبَطِهِ وَيَمْدُرُ حَوْضَهَا بِيَدِهِ بِأَنْصَبَ وَلَا أَدْأَبَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ فِيكُمْ، أَيْ قَوْمِ فَادْفِنُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ، قَالَ: وَجَعَلَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ تَبْكِي، فَقِيلَ لَهَا: يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ تَبْكِينَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟، قَالَتْ: إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَبْكِي عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لا أَكُونَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ ذَهَبَ إِلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا، وَلَكِنِّي أَبْكِي عَلَى خَبَرِ السَّمَاءِ انْقَطَعَ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ: خَنَقَتِ الْعَبْرَةُ أَيُّوبَ حِينَ بَلَغَ هَا هُنَا".
