Sahih Ibn Hibban 1301
Abu Raja’ said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey. We traveled one night until, at the end of the night, we stopped at a resting place, and there is no resting place more beloved to the traveler than it. We were not awakened except by the heat of the sun. The first of us to awaken was so-and-so, then so-and-so, then so-and-so – Abu Raja’ was naming them but Awf forgot them – then Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, was the fourth. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would sleep, we would not wake him until he woke himself, for we did not know what he experienced in his sleep. When Umar awoke and saw the condition of the people, for he was a large, corpulent man, he shouted out the Takbir and raised his voice. He continued to shout the Takbir and raise his voice until he woke the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with his voice. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, awoke, they complained to him about what had happened to them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There is no harm. Set out.” So they traveled for a short distance and then stopped. He called for water, performed ablution, and the call to prayer was given. He prayed with the people and when he finished his prayer, there was a man, a hypocrite, who had not prayed with the people. The Prophet said, “What prevented you from praying with the people, so-and-so?” He said, “O Messenger of Allah, I became sexually impure and there is no water.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Use the earth, for it is sufficient for you.” Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out and the people complained to him of thirst. He stopped and called for so-and-so – Abu Raja’ was naming him but Awf forgot him – and he called for Ali, may Allah be pleased with him. He said, “Go and bring us some water.” They found a woman between two waterskins or two leather containers of water on her camel. They said to her, “Where is the water?” She said, “I left the water at this time yesterday and we are a people who have stayed behind (i.e., her people had moved ahead, leaving her behind).” They said to her, “Come along then.” She said, “To where?” They said, “To the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.” She said, “Is this the one they call the boy?” They said, “He is the one you mean. Come along then.” They came with her to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and told him the story. He had her dismount her camel. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, called for a vessel, emptied the contents of the two waterskins or leather containers into it, tilted their mouths, and then untied the camel. It was announced to the people to drink and water their animals. Whoever wished to drink did so, and whoever wished to water their animals did so. The last of them was the one who had become sexually impure, and he was given a vessel of water. He said, “Go and pour it over yourself.” She was standing there, watching what they were doing with her water. By Allah, it seemed to us when they had finished as if it were more full than when they had started. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Gather some provisions for her.” They gathered up for her a mixture of dates, flour, and toasted grains, until they had gathered a large amount of provisions, and placed it in a cloth. They helped her mount her camel and placed the cloth in front of her. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to her, “Know that by Allah, we have not diminished any of your water, but it was Allah who gave us drink.” She came to her people, who were astonished at her. They said, “What has happened to you, so-and-so?” She said, “Something amazing! I met two men who took me to this one they call the boy. He did such and such to me” – relating what had happened. “By Allah, he is either the most magical of all that is between this point and that point, or he is truly the Messenger of Allah!” After that, the Muslims would raid the polytheists in her area but would not touch the valley where she was. So she said to her people, “By Allah, these people are deliberately avoiding you. Will you not accept Islam?” They obeyed her and entered into Islam.
ابو راجح رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک سفر میں تھے۔ ہم ایک رات سفر کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ رات کے آخر میں ہم ایک جگہ قیام پذیر ہوئے اور مسافر کے لیے اس سے زیادہ محبوب کوئی جگہ نہیں ہوتی۔ ہم سورج کی تپش کے سوا کسی اور چیز سے نہیں جاگے۔ ہم میں سے سب سے پہلے فلاں جاگا، پھر فلاں، پھر فلاں - ابو راجح ان کے نام لے رہے تھے لیکن عوف بھول گئے - پھر عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ چوتھے نمبر پر تھے۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سوتے تھے تو ہم آپ کو اس وقت تک نہیں جگاتے تھے جب تک کہ آپ خود نہ جاگ جاتے کیونکہ ہمیں نہیں معلوم تھا کہ آپ نے اپنی نیند میں کیا دیکھا ہے۔ جب عمر رضی اللہ عنہ جاگے اور لوگوں کی حالت دیکھی کیونکہ وہ ایک بڑے اور فربہ آدمی تھے تو انہوں نے تکبیر بلند آواز سے کہی اور اپنی آواز بلند کی۔ وہ تکبیر کہتے رہے اور اپنی آواز بلند کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ انہوں نے اپنی آواز سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو جگا دیا۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جاگے تو انہوں نے آپ سے اپنا واقعہ بیان کیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "کچھ حرج نہیں۔ روانہ ہو جاؤ۔" چنانچہ وہ تھوڑی دور سفر کر کے رک گئے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پانی منگوایا، وضو کیا اور نماز کی اذان دی گئی۔ آپ نے لوگوں کے ساتھ نماز ادا کی اور جب آپ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو ایک شخص، ایک منافق تھا جس نے لوگوں کے ساتھ نماز نہیں پڑھی تھی۔ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "تمہیں لوگوں کے ساتھ نماز پڑھنے سے کس چیز نے روکا، فلاں؟" اس نے کہا، "اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میں جنبی ہو گیا اور پانی نہیں ہے۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "مٹی استعمال کرو، کیونکہ یہ تمہارے لیے کافی ہے۔" پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روانہ ہوئے اور لوگوں نے آپ سے پیاس کی شکایت کی۔ آپ رک گئے اور فلاں کو بلایا - ابو راجح اس کا نام لے رہے تھے لیکن عوف بھول گئے - اور آپ نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلایا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "جاؤ اور ہمارے لیے کچھ پانی لاؤ۔" انہوں نے ایک عورت کو اپنے اونٹ پر دو مشکیزوں یا چمڑے کے دو برتنوں کے درمیان پایا۔ انہوں نے اس سے کہا، "پانی کہاں ہے؟" اس نے کہا، "میں نے کل اسی وقت پانی چھوڑا تھا اور ہم ایسے لوگ ہیں جو پیچھے رہ گئے ہیں (یعنی اس کے لوگ اسے پیچھے چھوڑ کر آگے بڑھ گئے تھے)۔" انہوں نے اس سے کہا، "تو پھر ساتھ آؤ۔" اس نے کہا، "کہاں؟" انہوں نے کہا، "رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں۔" اس نے کہا، "کیا یہ وہی ہیں جنہیں وہ لڑکا کہتے ہیں؟" انہوں نے کہا، "یہ وہی ہیں جن کا تمہیں مطلب ہے۔ تو پھر ساتھ آؤ۔" وہ اسے لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور آپ کو سارا ماجرا سنایا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے اپنے اونٹ سے اتارا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک برتن منگوایا، دونوں مشکیزوں یا چمڑے کے برتنوں کو اس میں خالی کرایا، ان کے منہ جھکائے، اور پھر اونٹ کو کھولا۔ لوگوں کو اعلان کیا گیا کہ وہ پی لیں اور اپنے جانوروں کو پانی پلائیں۔ جس کا جی چاہا اس نے پیا اور جس کا جی چاہا اس نے اپنے جانوروں کو پانی پلایا۔ ان میں سے آخری وہ شخص تھا جو جنبی ہو گیا تھا اور اسے پانی کا ایک برتن دیا گیا۔ اس نے کہا، "جاؤ اور اسے اپنے اوپر ڈالو۔" وہ وہیں کھڑی تھی اور دیکھ رہی تھی کہ وہ اس کے پانی کے ساتھ کیا کر رہے ہیں۔ اللہ کی قسم، ہمیں ایسا لگا جیسے جب وہ فارغ ہوئے تو ایسا لگ رہا تھا جیسے یہ پہلے سے زیادہ بھرا ہوا ہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "اس کے لیے کچھ راشن جمع کرو۔" انہوں نے اس کے لیے کھجوریں، آٹا، اور بھنے ہوئے دانوں کا مرکب جمع کیا، یہاں تک کہ انہوں نے بہت زیادہ راشن جمع کر لیا، اور اسے ایک کپڑے میں رکھ دیا۔ انہوں نے اسے اپنے اونٹ پر سوار ہونے میں مدد کی اور کپڑا اس کے سامنے رکھ دیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے فرمایا، "جان لو کہ اللہ کی قسم، ہم نے تمہارے پانی میں سے کچھ بھی کم نہیں کیا، بلکہ یہ اللہ ہی تھا جس نے ہمیں پانی پلایا۔" وہ اپنے لوگوں کے پاس آئی جو اسے دیکھ کر حیران رہ گئے۔ انہوں نے کہا، "تمہیں کیا ہوا ہے، فلاں؟" اس نے کہا، "ایک حیرت انگیز چیز! میں دو آدمیوں سے ملی جو مجھے اس شخص کے پاس لے گئے جسے وہ لڑکا کہتے ہیں۔ اس نے میرے ساتھ ایسا اور ایسا کیا" - جو کچھ ہوا تھا اسے بیان کرتے ہوئے۔ "اللہ کی قسم، وہ یا تو اس جگہ اور اس جگہ کے درمیان سب سے زیادہ جادو والا ہے، یا وہ واقعی اللہ کا رسول ہے!" اس کے بعد، مسلمان اس کے علاقے میں مشرکین پر چھاپہ مارتے تھے لیکن اس وادی کو نہیں چھوتے تھے جہاں وہ تھی۔ چنانچہ اس نے اپنے لوگوں سے کہا، "اللہ کی قسم، یہ لوگ جان بوجھ کر تم سے بچ رہے ہیں۔ کیا تم اسلام قبول نہیں کرو گے؟" انہوں نے اس کی بات مانی اور اسلام میں داخل ہو گئے۔

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ وَإِنَّا سِرْنَا لَيْلَةً حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ وَقَعْنَا تِلْكَ الْوَقْعَةَ وَلَا وَقْعَةَ أَحْلَى عِنْدَ الْمُسَافِرِ مِنْهَا فَمَا أَيْقَظَنَا إِلَّا حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ قَالَ وَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ فُلَانٌ ثُمَّ فُلَانٌ ثُمَّ فُلَانٌ وَكَانَ يُسَمِّيهِمْ أَبُو رَجَاءٍ وَنَسِيَهُمْ عَوْفٌ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ الرَّابِعُ قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَامَ لَمْ نُوقِظْهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ يَسْتَيْقِظُ لَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِي مَا يَحْدُثُ لَهُ فِي نَوْمِهِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ عُمَرُ وَرَأَى مَا أَصَابَ النَّاسَ قَالَ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا أَجْوَفَ جَلِيدًا قَالَ فَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَمَا زَالَ يُكَبِّرُ وَيَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ حَتَّى اسْتَيْقَظَ بِصَوْتِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَكَوَا الَّذِي أَصَابَهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا ضَيْرَ أَوْ لَا يَضِيرُ ارْتَحِلُوا» فَسَارَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَنُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلَمَّا انْفَتَلَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ إِذَا هُوَ بِرَجُلٍ مُعْتَزِلٍ لَمْ يُصَلِّ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ قَالَ «مَا مَنَعَكَ يَا فُلَانُ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ مَعَ الْقَوْمِ؟ » قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ وَلَا مَاءَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّعِيدِ فَإِنَّهُ يَكْفِيكَ» ثُمَّ سَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاشْتَكَى إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ الْعَطَشَ قَالَ فَنَزَلَ فَدَعَا فُلَانًا وَكَانَ يُسَمِّيهِ أَبُو رَجَاءٍ وَنَسِيَهُ عَوْفٌ وَدَعَا عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ «اذْهَبَا فَابْغِيَا لَنَا الْمَاءَ» فَلَقِيَا امْرَأَةً بَيْنَ مَزَادَتَيْنِ أَوْ سَطِيحَتَيْنِ مِنْ مَاءٍ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ لَهَا فَقَالَا لَهَا أَيْنَ الْمَاءُ؟ قَالَتْ عَهْدِي بِالْمَاءِ أَمْسِ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ وَنَفَرُنَا خُلُوفٌ قَالَ فَقَالَا لَهَا انْطَلِقِي إِذًا قَالَتْ إِلَى أَيْنَ؟ قَالَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ هَذَا الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الصَّابِي؟ قَالَا هُوَ الَّذِي تَعْنِينَ فَانْطَلِقِي إِذًا فَجَاءَا بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَحَدَّثَاهُ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ فَاسْتَنْزَلُوهَا عَنْ بَعِيرِهَا وَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِإِنَاءٍ فَأَفْرَغَ فِيهِ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِ الْمَزَادَتَيْنِ أَوِ السَّطِيحَتَيْنِ وَأَوْكَأَ أَفْوَاهَهُمَا وَأَطْلَقَ الْعَزَالِي وَنُودِيَ فِي النَّاسِ أَنِ اسْتَقُوا وَاسْقُوا قَالَ فَسَقَى مَنْ شَاءَ وَاسْتَقَى مَنْ شَاءَ وَكَانَ آخِرُ ذَلِكَ أَنْ أُعْطِيَ الَّذِي أَصَابَتْهُ الْجَنَابَةُ إِنَاءً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَقَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَأَفْرِغْهُ عَلَيْكَ» قَالَ وَهِيَ قَائِمَةٌ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَا يَفْعَلُ بِمَائِهَا قَالَ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ أُقْلِعَ عَنْهَا حِينَ أُقْلِعَ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُخَيَّلُ لَنَا أَنَّهَا أَشَدُّ مَلْئًا مِنْهَا حِينَ ابْتُدِئَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اجْمَعُوا لَهَا طَعَامًا» قَالَ فَجَمَعَ لَهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ عَجْوَةٍ وَدَقِيقَةٍ وَسَوِيقَةٍ حَتَّى جَمَعُوا لَهَا طَعَامًا كَثِيرًا وَجَعَلُوهُ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَحَمَلُوهَا عَلَى بَعِيرِهَا وَوَضَعُوا الثَّوْبَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «تَعْلَمِينَ أَنَّا وَاللَّهِ مَا رَزِئْنَا مِنْ مَائِكَ شَيْئًا وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ سَقَانَا» قَالَ فَأَتَتْ أَهْلَهَا وَقَدِ احْتَبَسَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالُوا مَا حَبَسَكِ يَا فُلَانَةُ؟ قَالَتِ الْعَجَبُ لَقِيَنِي رَجُلَانِ فَذَهَبَا بِي إِلَى هَذَا الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ الصَّابِي فَفَعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَكَذَا الَّذِي قَدْ كَانَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَأَسْحَرُ مَنْ بَيْنَ هَذِهِ إِلَى هَذِهِ أَوْ إِنَّهُ لِرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَقًّا قَالَ فَكَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يُغِيرُونَ عَلَى مَنْ حَوْلَهَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَا يُصِيبُونَ الصِّرْمَ الَّذِي هِيَ فِيهِ فَقَالَتْ لِقَوْمِهَا وَاللَّهِ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمُ يَدَعُونَكُمْ عَمْدًا فَهَلْ لَكُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ؟ فَأَطَاعُوهَا فَدَخَلُوا فِي الْإِسْلَام
