Abu Dharr narrated that: We went out with our people, the Ghifar, and they used to consider fighting permissible in the Sacred Months. I went out, along with my brother Unais and our mother, and we stayed with a maternal uncle of ours. Our uncle treated us generously and kindly, so his people envied us, and they said: "When you (the uncle) leave your family, Unais diverts you towards them. " Our uncle came and mentioned what they had said to him. I said: "You have already spoiled whatever good you have done, and we have no need for anything more from you." We prepared our riding beasts, loaded them up, and set out until we reached the vicinity of Makkah. He said: "I used to pray, O son of my brother, even before I met the Messenger of Allah." I said: "To whom did you pray?" He said: "To Allah," I said: "And in which direction did you face?" He said: "I faced wherever my Lord caused me to face." "I would pray the `Asr prayer when the sun was high until it set, then I would pray the Maghrib prayer until it was night, then I would pray the `Isha' prayer when it was late at night, and I would sleep until the sun rose." Unais said: "I have some business to attend to in Makkah." So Unais set out and went to Makkah. Then he came back, and I said: "What have you done?" He said: "I met a man in Makkah with your religion, who claims that Allah has sent him." I said: "And what do the people say?" He said: "They say, 'A poet, a soothsayer, a magician." And Unais was one of the poets. Unais said: "I have heard the words of the soothsayers, and this is not like their speech. I have compared his words to the meters of poetry, but they do not fit any of them. By Allah, he is truthful and they are liars." I said: "Leave me alone until I go and see for myself." So I went to Makkah and stayed with a man there. I said: "Where is this one whom you call 'Sabian'?" He pointed to me and said: "The Sabian!" The people of the valley all attacked me with whatever they could find to throw, until I fell unconscious. When I came to, I was like a red cloth. I went to Zamzam, washed the blood off myself and drank some of its water. I remained there for thirty days and nights, with nothing to eat but the water of Zamzam, and I grew fat until the folds of my stomach overlapped. I did not feel the pangs of hunger in my stomach. The people of Makkah were having fun one moonlit night, when something was thrown over their rooftops. No one was circumambulating the House at that time except two women from among them, who were calling out, "O Isaf! O Na'ilah!" They came across me as they were circumambulating the Ka`bah, and I said: "Marry one of you to the other." They did not stop what they were saying, and they came across me again. I said: "They are like two pieces of wood." They went back saying: "If there was anyone here, he would have spoken to them." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr met them as they were coming down, and he said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "The Sabian is between the Ka`bah and its coverings." He said: "What did he say to you?" They said: "He said something to us that fills the mouth." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came until he had touched the Black Stone, then he circumambulated the House along with his companion, then he prayed. Abu Dharr said: "I was the first one to greet him with the greeting of Islam. He said: "May the mercy of Allah be upon you." Then he said: "To whom do you belong?" I said: "From Ghifar." He pointed with his hand and placed his fingers on his forehead. I said to myself: 'I wish I had not claimed to belong to Ghifar." Then he raised his head and said: "How long have you been here?" I said: "I have been here for thirty days and nights." He said: "And who has been feeding you?" I said: "I have had nothing to eat but the water of Zamzam, and I have grown fat until the folds of my stomach have overlapped." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Verily it is blessed, verily it is food that nourishes." Abu Bakr said: "O Messenger of Allah, allow me to provide for him tonight." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr set out, and I went with them. Abu Bakr opened a door and started to take out some dates from Ta'if for us. That was the first food I ate in Makkah. Then we left, when we had prayed what we were going to pray, and I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said: "A land of palm trees has been shown to me, which I think is Yathrib. Will you convey a message from me to your people? Perhaps Allah will guide them through you and reward you through them." I set out and met Unais, and he said: "What have you done?" I said: "I have become Muslim and believed." He said: "I have no desire for anything other than your religion, so I have become Muslim and believed." We came to our mother, and she said: "I have no desire for anything other than your religion, so I have become Muslim and believed." We prepared our things and went back to our people, Ghifar, and half of them became Muslim. Their leader was Ima' bin Rahazah, and half of them said: "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) comes to Al-Madinah, we will become Muslim." When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Al-Madinah, the rest of them became Muslim. Aslam came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, our brothers, we will embrace the same faith as those who have embraced Islam." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Ghifar, may Allah forgive them. And Aslam, may Allah grant them peace."

میں اللہ کے رسول سے ملنے سے پہلے ہی نماز پڑھتا تھا۔" میں نے کہا: "تم کس کی عبادت کرتے تھے؟" اس نے کہا: "اللہ کی" میں نے کہا: "اور تم کس طرف منہ کرتے تھے؟" اس نے کہا: "میں جس طرف اپنے رب کا رخ کرتا تھا۔" "میں عصر کی نماز اس وقت پڑھتا تھا جب سورج بلند ہوتا تھا یہاں تک کہ وہ غروب ہو جاتا تھا، پھر میں مغرب کی نماز پڑھتا تھا یہاں تک کہ رات ہو جاتی تھی، پھر میں عشاء کی نماز پڑھتا تھا جب رات گہری ہو جاتی تھی، اور میں سورج نکلنے تک سوتا رہتا تھا۔" انیس نے کہا: "مجھے مکہ میں کچھ کام ہے۔" چنانچہ انیس نکلے اور مکہ چلے گئے۔ پھر وہ واپس آیا، اور میں نے کہا: "تم نے کیا کیا؟" اس نے کہا: "میں مکہ میں تمہارے دین والے ایک آدمی سے ملا، جو دعویٰ کرتا ہے کہ اللہ نے اسے بھیجا ہے۔" میں نے کہا: "اور لوگ کیا کہتے ہیں؟" اس نے کہا: "وہ کہتے ہیں، 'ایک شاعر، ایک کاہن، ایک جادوگر۔" اور انیس شاعروں میں سے ایک تھا۔ انیس نے کہا: "میں نے کاہنوں کی باتیں سنی ہیں، اور یہ ان کی تقریر کی طرح نہیں ہے۔ میں نے اس کے الفاظ کا موازنہ شاعری کے میٹر سے کیا ہے، لیکن وہ ان میں سے کسی پر بھی فٹ نہیں بیٹھتے۔ اللہ کی قسم، وہ سچا ہے اور وہ جھوٹے ہیں۔" میں نے کہا: "مجھے اکیلا چھوڑ دو جب تک کہ میں خود نہ جا کر دیکھ لوں۔" چنانچہ میں مکہ گیا اور وہاں ایک شخص کے پاس ٹھہرا۔ میں نے کہا: "یہ کہاں ہے جسے تم 'صبین' کہتے ہو؟" اس نے میری طرف اشارہ کیا اور کہا: "صبین!" وادی کے لوگوں نے مجھ پر حملہ کر دیا اور جو کچھ انہیں پھینکنے کو ملا وہ مجھ پر پھینکا، یہاں تک کہ میں بے ہوش ہو گیا۔ جب مجھے ہوش آیا تو میں سرخ کپڑے کی طرح تھا۔ میں زمزم کے پاس گیا، اپنا خون دھویا اور اس کا کچھ پانی پیا۔ میں تیس دن اور رات وہیں رہا، میرے پاس کھانے کو زمزم کا پانی کے سوا کچھ نہ تھا، اور میں اتنا موٹا ہو گیا کہ میرے پیٹ کی تہیں اوپر نیچے ہو گئیں۔ مجھے اپنے پیٹ میں بھوک کی شدت محسوس نہیں ہوئی۔ مکہ کے لوگ چاندنی رات میں خوشیاں منا رہے تھے کہ ان کی چھتوں پر کچھ پھینکا گیا۔ اس وقت بیت اللہ کا طواف کرنے والا کوئی نہ تھا سوائے ان میں سے دو عورتوں کے، جو پکار رہی تھیں، "اے اساف! اے نائلہ!" وہ کعبہ کا طواف کرتے ہوئے میرے پاس سے گزریں تو میں نے کہا: "تم میں سے ایک کی شادی دوسری سے کر دو۔" وہ اپنی باتوں سے باز نہ آئیں اور پھر میرے پاس سے گزریں۔ میں نے کہا: "یہ لکڑی کے دو ٹکڑوں کی طرح ہیں۔" وہ یہ کہتے ہوئے واپس چلی گئیں: "اگر یہاں کوئی ہوتا تو وہ ان سے ضرور بات کرتا۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ ان سے ملے تو وہ نیچے اتر رہے تھے، اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تمہیں کیا ہوا ہے؟" انہوں نے کہا: "صبین کعبہ اور اس کے غلاف کے درمیان ہے۔" آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اس نے تم سے کیا کہا؟" انہوں نے کہا: "اس نے ہم سے ایسی بات کہی جو منہ بھر دیتی ہے۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے یہاں تک کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حجر اسود کو چوما، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے ساتھی کے ساتھ گھر کا طواف کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز پڑھی۔ ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: "میں سب سے پہلے تھا جس نے اسلام کے سلام کے ساتھ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سلام کیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اللہ کی رحمت تم پر ہو۔" پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تم کس سے ہو؟" میں نے کہا: "غفار سے۔" آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اشارہ کیا اور اپنی انگلیاں اپنے ماتھے پر رکھ لیں۔ میں نے اپنے دل میں کہا: 'کاش میں غفار کا ہونے کا دعویٰ نہ کرتا۔' پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا سر اٹھایا اور فرمایا: "تم یہاں کب سے ہو؟" میں نے کہا: "میں یہاں تیس دن اور رات سے ہوں۔" آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اور تمہیں کون کھانا کھلاتا رہا ہے؟" میں نے کہا: "میں نے زمزم کے پانی کے سوا کچھ نہیں کھایا، اور میں اتنا موٹا ہو گیا ہوں کہ میرے پیٹ کی تہیں اوپر نیچے ہو گئی ہیں۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "بے شک یہ بابرکت ہے، بے شک یہ ایسا کھانا ہے جو پرورش کرتا ہے۔" ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: "اے اللہ کے رسول! مجھے اجازت دیجیے کہ میں آج رات اس کی خاطر داری کروں۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نکلے اور میں ان کے ساتھ چلا گیا۔ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایک دروازہ کھولا اور ہمارے لیے طائف سے کچھ کھجوریں نکالنے لگے۔ یہ پہلا کھانا تھا جو میں نے مکہ میں کھایا۔ پھر ہم چلے گئے، جب ہم نے وہ نماز پڑھ لی جو ہم پڑھنے والے تھے، اور میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "مجھے کھجوروں کی ایک زمین دکھائی گئی ہے، جو میرے خیال میں یثرب ہے۔ کیا تم میرا پیغام اپنی قوم تک پہنچاؤ گے؟ شاید اللہ تمہارے ذریعے ان کی ہدایت فرمائے اور تمہیں ان کے ذریعے اجر عطا فرمائے۔" میں نکلا اور انیس سے ملا تو اس نے کہا: "تم نے کیا کیا؟" میں نے کہا: "میں مسلمان ہو گیا ہوں اور ایمان لے آیا ہوں۔" اس نے کہا: "مجھے تمہارے دین کے سوا کسی چیز کی خواہش نہیں ہے، اس لیے میں مسلمان ہو گیا ہوں اور ایمان لے آیا ہوں۔" ہم اپنی والدہ کے پاس آئے تو انہوں نے کہا: "مجھے تمہارے دین کے سوا کسی چیز کی خواہش نہیں ہے، اس لیے میں مسلمان ہو گئی ہوں اور ایمان لے آئی ہوں۔" ہم نے اپنا سامان تیار کیا اور اپنی قوم غفار کے پاس واپس چلے گئے، اور ان میں سے نصف مسلمان ہو گئے۔ ان کا سردار امامہ بن رھاضہ تھا، اور ان میں سے نصف نے کہا: "جب اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مدینہ تشریف لائیں گے تو ہم مسلمان ہو جائیں گے۔" جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مدینہ تشریف لائے تو باقی سب مسلمان ہو گئے۔ اسلم آئے اور کہا: "اے اللہ کے رسول! ہمارے بھائی، ہم بھی انہی لوگوں کی طرح اسلام قبول کریں گے جنہوں نے اسلام قبول کیا ہے۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "غفار، اللہ انہیں معاف کرے۔ اور اسلم، اللہ انہیں سلامتی عطا فرمائے۔"
Abuzar Razi Allah Anhu se riwayat hai ke: Hum apni qaum Ghafar ke sath nikle, aur woh hurmat wale maheno mein larai ko jaiz samajhte thay. Mein apne bhai Anees aur apni walida ke sath nikla aur hum apne ek mamun ke pass thehre. Humare mamun aaye aur un se jo kuchh kaha gaya tha woh bataya. Mein ne kaha: "Jo neki tum ne ki thi woh tum ne pehle hi zaya kar di, aur ab humein tum se kisi cheez ki zarurat nahi." Hum ne apne unt taiyar kiye, un par saman lada aur Makkah ke qareeb pahunchne tak nikal pade. Us ne kaha: "Aye mere bhai ke bete! Mein Allah ke Rasool se milne se pehle hi namaz parhta tha." Mein ne kaha: "Tum kis ki ibadat karte thay?" Us ne kaha: "Allah ki" Mein ne kaha: "Aur tum kis taraf munh karte thay?" Us ne kaha: "Mein jis taraf apne Rab ka rukh karta tha." "Mein Asar ki namaz us waqt parhta tha jab Suraj buland hota tha yahan tak ke woh ghuroob ho jata tha, phir mein Maghrib ki namaz parhta tha yahan tak ke raat ho jati thi, phir mein Isha ki namaz parhta tha jab raat gehre ho jati thi, aur mein Suraj nikalne tak sota rehta tha." Anees ne kaha: "Mujhe Makkah mein kuchh kaam hai." Chunanche Anees nikle aur Makkah chale gaye. Phir woh wapas aaya, aur mein ne kaha: "Tum ne kya kiya?" Us ne kaha: "Mein Makkah mein tumhare din wale ek aadmi se mila, jo daawa karta hai ke Allah ne use bheja hai." Mein ne kaha: "Aur log kya kehte hain?" Us ne kaha: "Woh kehte hain, 'Ek shayar, ek kahin, ek jadugar." Aur Anees shayaron mein se ek tha. Anees ne kaha: "Mein ne kahinon ki baatein suni hain, aur yeh un ki taqreer ki tarah nahi hai. Mein ne us ke alfaz ka muqabla shayari ke meter se kiya hai, lekin woh un mein se kisi par bhi fit nahi baithte. Allah ki qasam, woh sacha hai aur woh jhute hain." Mein ne kaha: "Mujhe akela chhor do jab tak ke mein khud na ja kar dekh lun." Chunanche mein Makkah gaya aur wahan ek shakhs ke pass thahra. Mein ne kaha: "Yeh kahan hai jise tum 'Sabeen' kehte ho?" Us ne meri taraf ishara kiya aur kaha: "Sabeen!" Wadi ke logon ne mujh par hamla kar diya aur jo kuchh unhen phenkne ko mila woh mujh par phenka, yahan tak ke mein behosh ho gaya. Jab mujhe hosh aaya tou mein surkh kapre ki tarah tha. Mein Zamzam ke pass gaya, apna khoon dhoya aur us ka kuchh pani piya. Mein tees din aur raat wahin raha, mere pass khane ko Zamzam ka pani ke siwa kuchh na tha, aur mein itna mota ho gaya ke mere pet ki tehriyan upar neeche ho gayin. Mujhe apne pet mein bhook ki shiddat mehsoos nahi hui. Makkah ke log chandni raat mein khushiyan mana rahe thay ke un ki chhaton par kuchh phenka gaya. Is waqt Baitullah ka tawaf karne wala koi na tha siwaye in mein se do auraton ke, jo pukar rahi thin, "Aye Asaf! Aye Naila!" Woh Kaaba ka tawaf karte huye mere pass se guzri tou mein ne kaha: "Tum mein se ek ki shadi dusri se kar do." Woh apni baton se baz na aayin aur phir mere pass se guzrin. Mein ne kaha: "Yeh lakri ke do tukron ki tarah hain." Woh yeh kehte huye wapas chali gayin: "Agar yahan koi hota tou woh in se zarur baat karta." Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam aur Abu Bakr Razi Allah Anhu un se mile tou woh neeche utar rahe thay, aur aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Tumhen kya hua hai?" Unhon ne kaha: "Sabeen Kaaba aur us ke ghilaf ke darmiyan hai." Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Us ne tum se kya kaha?" Unhon ne kaha: "Us ne hum se aisi baat kahi jo munh bhar deti hai." Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam tashreef laaye yahan tak ke aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne Hajar-e-Aswad ko chuma, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apne sathi ke sath ghar ka tawaf kiya, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne namaz parhi. Abuzar Razi Allah Anhu ne kaha: "Mein sab se pehle tha jis ne Islam ke salaam ke sath aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ko salaam kiya. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Allah ki rehmat tum par ho." Phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum kis se ho?" Mein ne kaha: "Ghafar se." Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apne hath se ishara kiya aur apni ungliyan apne mathe par rakh lin. Mein ne apne dil mein kaha: 'Kash mein Ghafar ka hone ka daawa na karta.' Phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apna sar uthaya aur farmaya: "Tum yahan kab se ho?" Mein ne kaha: "Mein yahan tees din aur raat se hun." Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Aur tumhen kaun khana khilata raha hai?" Mein ne kaha: "Mein ne Zamzam ke pani ke siwa kuchh nahi khaya, aur mein itna mota ho gaya hun ke mere pet ki tehriyan upar neeche ho gayi hain." Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Be shak yeh babarkat hai, be shak yeh aisa khana hai jo parwarish karta hai." Abu Bakr Razi Allah Anhu ne kaha: "Aye Allah ke Rasool! Mujhe ijazat dijiye ke mein aaj raat is ki khatir dari karun." Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam aur Abu Bakr Razi Allah Anhu nikle aur mein un ke sath chala gaya. Abu Bakr Razi Allah Anhu ne ek darwaza khola aur humare liye Taif se kuchh khajoorein nikalne lage. Yeh pehla khana tha jo mein ne Makkah mein khaya. Phir hum chale gaye, jab hum ne woh namaz parh li jo hum parhne wale thay, aur mein Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir hua. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Mujhe khajooron ki ek zameen dikhai gayi hai, jo mere khayal mein Yathrib hai. Kya tum mera paigham apni qaum tak pahunchao ge? Shayad Allah tumhare zariye un ki hidayat farmaye aur tumhen un ke zariye ajr ata farmaye." Mein nikla aur Anees se mila tou us ne kaha: "Tum ne kya kiya?" Mein ne kaha: "Mein musalman ho gaya hun aur iman le aaya hun." Us ne kaha: "Mujhe tumhare din ke siwa kisi cheez ki khwahish nahi hai, is liye mein musalman ho gaya hun aur iman le aaya hun." Hum apni walida ke pass aaye tou unhon ne kaha: "Mujhe tumhare din ke siwa kisi cheez ki khwahish nahi hai, is liye mein musalman ho gayi hun aur iman le aayi hun." Hum ne apna saman taiyar kiya aur apni qaum Ghafar ke pass wapas chale gaye, aur un mein se nisf musalman ho gaye. Un ka sardar Imamah bin Rihazah tha, aur un mein se nisf ne kaha: "Jab Allah ke Rasool Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Madinah tashreef layenge tou hum musalman ho jayenge." Jab Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Madinah tashreef laaye tou baqi sab musalman ho gaye. Aslam aaye aur kaha: "Aye Allah ke Rasool! Humare bhai, hum bhi unhi logon ki tarah Islam qubool karenge jinhon ne Islam qubool kiya hai." Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Ghafar, Allah unhen maaf kare. Aur Aslam, Allah unhen salamati ata farmaye."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى وَعِدَّةٌ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ خَرَجْنَا فِي قَوْمِنَا غِفَارٍ وَكَانُوا يَحِلُّونَ الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ فَخَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي أُنَيْسٌ وَأُمُّنَّا فَنَزَلْنَا عَلَى خَالٍ لَنَا فَأَكْرَمَنَا خَالُنَا وَأَحْسَنَ إِلَيْنَا فَحَسَدَنَا قَوْمُهُ فَقَالُوا إِنَّكَ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ عَنْ أَهْلِكَ خَالَفَكَ إِلَيْهِمْ أُنَيْسٌ فَجَاءَ خَالُنَا فَذَكَرَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ فَقُلْتُ أَمَّا مَا مَضَى مِنْ مَعْرُوفِكَ فَقَدْ كَدَّرْتَهُ وَلَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا فِيمَا بَعْدُ قَالَ فَقَدَّمْنَا صِرْمَتَنَا فَاحْتَمَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا فَانْطَلَقْنَا حَتَّى نَزَلْنَا بِحَضْرَةِ مَكَّةَ قَالَ وَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي قَبْلَ أَنْ أَلْقَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِمَنْ؟ قَالَ لِلَّهِ قُلْتُ فَأَيْنَ تَوَجَّهُ؟ قَالَ أَتَوَجَّهُ حَيْثُ يُوَجِّهُنِي رَبِّي أُصَلِّي عَشِيًّا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ أُلْقِيتُ حَتَّى تَعْلُوَنِي الشَّمْسُ قَالَ أُنَيْسٌ إِنَّ لِيَ حَاجَةً بِمَكَّةَ فَانْطَلَقَ أُنَيْسٌ حَتَّى أَتَى مَكَّةَ قَالَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقُلْتُ مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ لَقِيتُ رَجُلًا بِمَكَّةَ عَلَى دِينِكَ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَرْسَلَهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ؟ قَالَ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ كَاهِنٌ سَاحِرٌ قَالَ فَكَانَ أُنَيْسٌ أَحَدَ الشُّعَرَاءِ قَالَ أُنَيْسُ لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ قَوْلَ الْكَهَنَةِ وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِهِمْ وَلَقَدْ وَضَعْتُ قَوْلَهُ عَلَى أَقْرَاءِ الشَّعْرِ فَمَا يَلْتَئِمُ عَلَى لِسَانِ أَحَدٍ بَعْدِي أَنَّهُ شِعْرٌ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَصَادِقٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَاكْفِنِي حَتَّى أَذْهَبَ فَأَنْظُرَ فَأَتَيْتُ مَكَّةَ فَتَضَيَّفْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ فَقُلْتُ أَيْنَ هَذَا الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الصَّابِئَ؟ قَالَ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيَّ وَقَالَ الصَّابِئَ قَالَ فَمَالَ عَلَيَّ أَهْلُ الْوَادِي بِكُلِّ مَدَرَةٍ وَعَظْمٍ حَتَّى خَرَرْتُ مَغْشِيًّا عَلَيَّ فَارْتَفَعْتُ حِينَ ارْتَفَعْتُ كَأَنِّي نَصْبٌ أَحْمَرٌ فَأَتَيْتُ زَمْزَمَ فَغَسَلْتُ عَنِّي الدِّمَاءَ وَشَرِبْتُ مِنْ مَائِهَا وَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ مَا بَيْنَ ثَلَاثِينَ مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ وَيَوْمٍ مَالِي طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ فَسَمِنْتُ حَتَّى تَكَسَّرَتْ عُكَنُ بَطْنِي وَمَا وَجَدْتُ عَلَى كَبِدِي سُخْفَةَ جُوعٍ قَالَ فَبَيْنَا أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ قَمْرَاءَ إِضْحِيَانَ إِذْ ضُرِبَ عَلَى أَسْمِخَتِهِمْ فَمَا يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ أَحَدٌ وَامْرَأَتَانِ مِنْهُمْ تَدْعُوَانِ إِسَافًا وَنَائِلَةَ قَالَ فَأَتَتَا عَلَيَّ فِي طَوَافِهِمَا فَقُلْتُ أَنْكِحَا أَحَدَهُمَا الْآخَرَ قَالَ فَمَا تَنَاهَتَا عَنْ قَوْلِهِمَا فَأَتَتَا عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ هُنَّ مِثْلُ الْخَشَبَةِ فَرَجَعَتَا تَقُولَانِ لَوْ كَانَ هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَهُمَا هَابِطَانِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَكُمَا؟ » قَالَتَا الصَّابِئُ بَيْنَ الْكَعْبَةِ وَأَسْتَارِهَا قَالَا «مَا قَالَ لَكُمَا؟ » قَالَتَا إِنَّهُ قَالَ لَنَا كَلِمَةً تَمْلَأُ الْفَمَ قَالَ وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى اسْتَلَمَ الْحَجَرَ ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ هُوَ وَصَاحِبُهُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ فَكُنْتُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ حَيَّاهُ بِتَحِيَّةِ الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ «وَعَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ » فَقُلْتُ مِنْ غِفَارٍ قَالَ فَأَهْوَى بِيَدِهِ وَوَضَعَ أَصَابِعَهُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي كَرِهَ أَنِّي انْتَمَيْتُ إِلَى غِفَارٍ قَالَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَقَالَ «مُذْ مَتَى كُنْتَ هَاهُنَا؟ » قَالَ كُنْتُ هَاهُنَا مِنْ ثَلَاثِينَ بَيْنَ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ قَالَ «فَمَنْ كَانَ يُطْعِمُكَ؟ » قُلْتُ مَا كَانَ لِي طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ فَسَمِنْتُ حَتَّى تَكَسَّرَتْ عُكَنُ بَطْنِي قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهَا مُبَارَكَةٌ إِنَّهَا طَعَامُ طُعْمٍ» فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ائْذَنْ لِي فِي طَعَامِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُمَا فَفَتَحَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بَابًا فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُ لَنَا مِنْ زَبِيبِ الطَّائِفِ فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ أَوَّلُ طَعَامٍ أَكَلْتُهُ بِهَا ثُمَّ غَبَرْتُ مَا غَبَرْتُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ قَدْ وُجِّهَتْ لِي أَرْضٌ ذَاتُ نَخْلٍ مَا أُرَاهَا إِلَّا يَثْرِبَ فَهَلْ أَنْتَ مُبَلَّغٍ عَنِّي قَوْمَكَ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَهْدِيَهُمُ بِكَ وَيَأْجُرَكَ فِيهِمْ» قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَلَقِيتُ أُنَيْسًا فَقَالَ مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قُلْتُ صَنَعْتُ أَنِّي قَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَصَدَّقْتُ قَالَ مَا بِي رَغْبَةٌ عَنْ دِينِكِ فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَصَدَّقْتُ قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا أُمَّنَا فَقَالَتْ مَا بِي رَغْبَةٌ عَنْ دِينِكُمَا فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَصَدَّقْتُ فَاحْتَمَلْنَا حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا قَوْمَنَا غِفَارًا فَأَسْلَمَ نِصْفُهُمْ وَكَانَ يَؤُمُّهُمْ إِيمَاءُ بْنُ رَحَضَةَ وَكَانَ سَيِّدَهُمْ وَقَالَ نِصْفُهُمْ إِذَا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ أَسْلَمْنَا فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ أَسْلَمَ نِصْفُهُمُ الْبَاقِي وَجَاءَتْ أَسْلَمُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانُنَا نُسَلِّمُ عَلَى الَّذِي أَسْلَمُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «غِفَارٌ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ»
