Chapter: What (is said) to seek refuge from fever

باب مَا يُعَوَّذُ بِهِ مِنَ الْحُمَّى

Sunan Ibn Majah 3526

Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that for fever and all kinds of pain, the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to teach them to say-بسم هللا كبير ، أعود باهلل- عظيم من شري عرقيننعار ، من شري حرين- نار [In the Name of Allah the Great, I seek refuge with Allah the Almighty from the evil of a vein gushing (with blood) and the evil of the heat of the Fire]. (One of the narrators) Abu Ammar said, ‘I differed with the people on this, I said ‘Screaming’.’ Another chain from Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه), from the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه آله وسلم) with similar wording, and he said, “From the evil of a vein screaming (with blood)”.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ بخار اور ہر طرح کے درد کے لیے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کو سکھاتے کہ اس طرح کہیں: «بسم الله الكبير أعوذ بالله العظيم من شر عرق نعار ومن شر حر النار» یعنی اللہ عظیم کے نام سے، جوش مارنے والی رگ کے شر سے، اور جہنم کی گرمی کے شر سے میں اللہ عظیم کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں ۔ ابوعامر کہتے ہیں کہ میں اس میں لوگوں کے برخلاف «یعّار» کہتا ہوں ۔

Abdul-Allah ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se riwayat hai ke Nabi-e-Akram sall Allahu alaihi wa sallam bukhar aur har tarah ke dard ke liye sahaba-e-kuram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko sikhate ke is tarah kahein: «Bismillah-il-kabir auzu billah-il-azim min sharri arq-e-na'ar wa min sharri harr-e-nar» yani Allah-e-azim ke naam se, josh marne wali rag ke shar se, aur jahannum ki garmi ke shar se main Allah-e-azim ki panah mangta hun. Abu Amir kehte hain ke main is mein logon ke barkhilaf «ya'ar» kehta hun 1؎.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْأَشْهَلِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ مِنَ الْحُمَّى،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنَ الْأَوْجَاعِ كُلِّهَا،‏‏‏‏ أَنْ يَقُولُوا:‏‏‏‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الْكَبِيرِ،‏‏‏‏ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ مِنْ شَرِّ عِرْقٍ نَعَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَرِّ النَّارِ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا أُخَالِفُ النَّاسَ فِي هَذَا أَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ يَعَّارٍ.

Sunan Ibn Majah 3527

Umair narrated that he heard Junadah bin Abu Umayyah say, that he heard Ubadah bin Samit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) say, ‘Jibril (عليه السالم) came to the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) when he was suffering from fever and said, [بسم هللا أرقيكا ، من كل ي شايعين يوديكا ، من حصديحسين ، ومن كل ي عينين ، هللا يشفيقة] (In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you; from the envy of the envier and from every evil eye, may Allah heal you)”.’

عبادہ بن صامت رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ کے پاس جبرائیل علیہ السلام آئے، آپ ﷺ کو بخار تھا، تو انہوں نے کہا: «بسم الله أرقيك من كل شيء يؤذيك من حسد حاسد ومن كل عين الله يشفيك» یعنی اللہ کے نام سے میں آپ پر دم کرتا ہوں، ہر اس چیز سے جو آپ کو اذیت دے، حاسد کے حسد سے، اور ہر نظر بد سے، اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کو شفاء عطا کرے ۔

Abadah bin Samit (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas Jibrael alaihi salam aaye, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko bukhar tha, to unhon ne kaha: «Bismillah Arqik min kul shai yo'dhik min hasad hasid wa min kul ain Allah yashfik» yani Allah ke naam se main aap par dam karta hun, har us cheez se jo aap ko azit de, hasid ke hasad se, aur har nazar bad se, Allah Ta'ala aap ko shifa ata kare.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَجُنَادَةَ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَى جِبْرَائِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكَ،‏‏‏‏ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُؤْذِيكَ،‏‏‏‏ مِنْ حَسَدِ حَاسِدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ اللَّهُ يَشْفِيكَ .
