It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “I saw the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) raising his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders when he started the prayer, and when he bowed in Ruku’, and when he raised his head from Ruku’, but he did not raise them between the two prostrations.”

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ جب آپ نماز شروع کرتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے یہاں تک کہ آپ ان دونوں ہاتھوں کو اپنے کندھوں کے مقابل لے جاتے، اور جب رکوع میں جاتے، اور جب رکوع سے اپنا سر اٹھاتے، ( تو بھی اسی طرح ہاتھ اٹھاتے رفع یدین کرتے ) اور دونوں سجدوں کے درمیان آپ ہاتھ نہ اٹھاتے ۔
Abdul-Allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke main ne Rasool-Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko dekha ke jab aap namaz shuru karte to apne dono hath uthate yahan tak ke aap in dono hathon ko apne kandhon ke muqabil le jate, aur jab rukoo mein jate, aur jab rukoo se apna sar uthate, (to bhi isi tarah hath uthate rafa yadeen karte) aur dono sajdoun ke darmiyan aap hath nah uthate
It was narrated that Malik bin Huwairith (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said that when the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) said Allahu Akbar, he would raise his hands until they were close to his ears; when he bowed in Ruku’ he did likewise, and when he raised his head from Ruku’ he did likewise.

مالک بن حویرث رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب تکبیر تحریمہ کہتے، تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو کانوں کے قریب تک اٹھاتے، اور جب رکوع میں جاتے تو بھی اسی طرح کرتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ، اور جب رکوع سے اپنا سر اٹھاتے تو بھی ایسا ہی کرتے
Malik bin Huwairth (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab takbir tahrima kahte, to apne dono haton ko kano ke qareeb tak uthate, aur jab rukoo mein jate to bhi isi tarah karte ( yani rafa e yadain karte ) , aur jab rukoo se apna sar uthate to bhi aisa hi karte
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “I saw the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) raising his hands during prayer until they were parallel with his shoulders when he started to pray, when he bowed and when he prostrated.”

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ آپ اپنے دونوں ہاتھ نماز میں مونڈھوں ( کندھوں ) کے بالمقابل اٹھاتے جس وقت نماز شروع کرتے، جس وقت رکوع کرتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ، اور جس وقت سجدہ کرتے ۔

It was narrated that ‘Umair bin Habib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to raise his hands at every Takbir (saying Allahu Akbar) in the obligatory prayer.”

عمیر بن حبیب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ اپنے دونوں ہاتھ ہر تکبیر کے ساتھ فرض نماز میں اٹھاتے تھے۔

It was narrated that Muhammad bin `Amr bin `Ata’ said, concerning Abu Humaid As-Sa`di ( رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) : “I heard him when he was among ten of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا ليه ع و آله وسلم), one of whom was Abu Qatadah bin Rib`I (رضي الله تعالى عنه), saying: ‘I am the most knowledgeable of you about the prayer of the Apostle of 21 Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم). When he stood up for prayer, he stood up straight and raised his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders, then he said: Allahu Akbar. When he wanted to bow in Ruku`, he raised his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders. When he said Sami` Allahu liman hamidah (Allah (ع
ز و ج ل) hears those who praise Him), he raised his hands and stood up straight. When he stood up after two Rak`ah, he said Allahu Akbar and raised his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders, as he did when he started the prayer.’”

محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابو حمید ساعدی کو کہتے سنا اور وہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے دس اصحاب کے بیچ میں تھے جن میں سے ایک ابوقتادہ بن ربعی تھے، ابو حمید ساعدی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: میں تم میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کی نماز کو سب سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں، آپ ﷺ جب نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے تو سیدھے کھڑے ہو جاتے، اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ مونڈھوں کے بالمقابل اٹھاتے، پھر «ألله أكبر» کہتے، اور جب رکوع میں جانے کا ارادہ کرتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ مونڈھوں کے بالمقابل اٹھاتے، اور جب «سمع الله لمن حمده» کہتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے اور سیدھے کھڑے ہو جاتے، اور جب دو رکعت کے بعد ( تیسری رکعت کے لیے ) کھڑے ہوتے تو «ألله أكبر» کہتے اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ مونڈھوں کے بالمقابل اٹھاتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ، جیسا کہ نماز شروع کرتے وقت کیا تھا ۔
Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata kehte hain ke main ne Abu Hamid Saaidi ko kehte suna aur woh Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke das Ashab ke beech mein the jin mein se ek Abu Qatadah bin Rabi the, Abu Hamid Saaidi Radi Allahu anhu ne kaha: main tum mein Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki namaz ko sab se zyada janta hun, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab namaz ke liye khade hote to sidhe khade ho jate, aur apne dono hath mundaon ke balmuqabil uthate, phir «Allahu Akbar» kehte, aur jab rukoo mein jane ka irada karte to apne dono hath mundaon ke balmuqabil uthate, aur jab «Sama Allahu liman Hamde» kehte to apne dono hath uthate aur sidhe khade ho jate, aur jab do rakhat ke baad ( tesri rakhat ke liye ) khade hote to «Allahu Akbar» kehte aur apne dono hath mundaon ke balmuqabil uthate ( yani rafa-e-yadin karte ) , jaisa ke namaz shuru karte waqt kia tha 1؎.
Abbas bin Sahl As-Sa’di said: “Abu Humaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه), Abu Usaid As-Sa’di ( رضي الله تعالى عنه), Sahl bin Sa’d (رضي الله تعالی عنہ), and Muhammad bin Maslamah (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) came together and spoke about the prayer of the Apostle of Allah ( صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم). Abu Humaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: ‘I am the most knowledgeable of you about the prayer of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). The Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) stood up and said Allahu Akbar, and raised his hands, then he raised them when he said Allahu Akbar for Ruku’, then he stood up and raised his hands, and stood straight until every bone had returned to its place.’”

عباس بن سہل ساعدی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ابو حمید ساعدی، ابواسید ساعدی، سہل بن سعد اور محمد بن مسلمہ رضی اللہ عنہم اکٹھے ہوئے، اور انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کی نماز کا تذکرہ کیا، ابوحمید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کی نماز کو تم سب سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں، آپ نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے تو «ألله أكبر» کہتے، اور دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے، پھر جب رکوع کے لیے «ألله أكبر» کہتے تو دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے، پھر جب رکوع سے اٹھتے تو دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ، اور سیدھے کھڑے رہتے یہاں تک کہ ہر ہڈی اپنی جگہ واپس لوٹ آتی ۔
Abbas bin Sahl Sa'adi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Abu Hamid Sa'adi, Abu Asid Sa'adi, Sahl bin Saad aur Muhammad bin Muslima (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ikathe hue, aur unhon ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki namaz ka tazkira kiya, Abu Hamid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha ke main Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki namaz ko tum sab se zyada janta hun, aap namaz ke liye khade hote to «Allahu Akbar» kehte, aur donon hath uthate, phir jab rukoo ke liye «Allahu Akbar» kehte to donon hath uthate, phir jab rukoo se uthte to donon hath uthate ( yani rafa yadain karte ), aur sidhe khade rahte yehan tak ke har haddi apni jagah wapas loot aati ۱؎.
It was narrated that ‘Ali bin Abu Talib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “When the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up to offer a prescribed prayer, he said Allahu Akbar and raised his hands until they were parallel to his shoulders. When he wanted to bow, he did likewise; when he raised his head from bowing, he did likewise; and when he stood up after the two prostrations he did likewise.”

علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ جب فرض نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے تو «ألله أكبر» کہتے، اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ مونڈھوں کے مقابل اٹھاتے، اور جب رکوع کا ارادہ کرتے تو اسی طرح کرتے، اور جب رکوع سے سر اٹھاتے تو اسی طرح کرتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ، اور جب دو سجدوں ( یعنی رکعتوں کے بعد ) اٹھتے تو اسی طرح کرتے۔
Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab farz namaz ke liye khade hote to «Allahu Akbar» kehte, aur apne dono hath mundaon ke muqabil uthate, aur jab rukoo ka irada karte to isi tarah karte, aur jab rukoo se sar uthate to isi tarah karte ( yani rafa yadeen karte ) , aur jab do sajdon ( yani rukaton ke baad ) uthte to isi tarah karte.
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) used to raise his hands at every Takbir (saying Allahu Akbar).

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب نماز میں داخل ہوتے، اور جب رکوع کرتے، تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے تھے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) ۔

It was narrated that Wa’il bin Hujr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “I said: ‘I will look at the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and see how he performs the prayer.’ He stood up and faced the Qiblah, and raised his hands until they were parallel to his ears. When he bowed, he raised them likewise, and when he raised his head from Ruku’, he raised them likewise.”

وائل بن حجر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے اپنے دل میں سوچا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کو میں ضرور دیکھوں گا کہ آپ کیسے نماز پڑھتے ہیں، ( چنانچہ ایک روز میں نے دیکھا ) کہ آپ ﷺ نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے، قبلے کی طرف رخ کیا، اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو اٹھایا یہاں تک کہ انہیں اپنے دونوں کانوں کے بالمقابل کیا، پھر جب رکوع کیا تو ( بھی ) اسی طرح اٹھایا ( یعنی رفع یدین کیا ) ، اور جب رکوع سے اپنا سر اٹھایا، تو ( بھی ) اسی طرح اٹھایا ۔
Wa'il bin Hajr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main ne apne dil mein socha ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko main zarur dekhon ga ke aap kaise namaz padhte hain, (chana'nch ek roz main ne dekha) ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz ke liye khade hue, qible ki taraf rukh kiya, aur apne donon hathon ko uthaya yahan tak ke unhen apne donon kanoon ke balmuqabil kiya, phir jab rukoo kiya to (bhi) isi tarah uthaya (yani raf'e yadain kiya), aur jab rukoo se apna sir uthaya, to (bhi) isi tarah uthaya
It was narrated from Abu Zubair that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (رضي الله تعالی عنہ) would raise his hands when he began the prayer, and when he bowed, and when he raised (his head) from Ruku’ he would do likewise, and he said: “I saw the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) doing that.” (One of the narrators) said: “Ibrahim bin Tahman (one of the narrators) raised his hands to his ears.” 23

ابوالزبیر سے روایت ہے کہ جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما جب نماز شروع کرتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھاتے، اور جب رکوع کے لیے جاتے، یا رکوع سے سر اٹھاتے تو بھی اسی طرح کرتے ( یعنی رفع یدین کرتے ) اور کہتے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو ایسے ہی کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے۔ ابراہیم بن طہمان ( راوی حدیث ) نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اپنے دونوں کانوں تک اٹھا کر بتایا۔
Abu al-Zubair se riwayat hai ke Jaber bin Abd Allah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a jab namaz shuru karte to apne dono hath uthate, aur jab rukoo ke liye jate, ya rukoo se sar uthate to bhi isi tarah karte ( yani rafa idain karte ) aur kahte ke maine Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko aise hi karte hue dekha hai. Ibrahim bin Tahman ( rawi hadith ) ne apne dono hath apne dono kano tak utha kar bataya.
