Sunan Ibn Majah 1239
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “The Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said: ‘The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, then say Allahu Akbar; when he bows, then bow; when he says Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah, then say Rabbana wa lakal-hamd; when he prostrates then prostrate; if he prays standing, then pray standing, and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.”

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: امام اس لیے بنایا گیا ہے کہ اس کی اقتداء کی جائے، لہٰذا جب وہ «الله أكبر» کہے، تو تم بھی «الله أكبر» کہو، اور جب رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو، اور جب «سمع الله لمن حمده» کہے تو تم بھی «ربنا ولك الحمد» کہو، اور اگر وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو، اور اگر بیٹھ کر پڑھے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر پڑھو ۔
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Imam is liye banaya gaya hai ke is ki iqtada ki jaye, lihaza jab woh «Allah Akbar» kahe, to tum bhi «Allah Akbar» kaho, aur jab rukoo kare to tum bhi rukoo karo, aur jab «Sama' Allah liman Hamda» kahe to tum bhi «Rabbana wa laka al-Hamd» kaho, aur agar woh khare ho kar namaz padhe to tum bhi khare ho kar namaz padho, aur agar baith kar padhe to tum bhi baith kar padho .
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا قَالَ: سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، فَقُولُوا: رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا، وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا .
