Chapter on the Mention of the Middle Prayer, Which Allah Commanded to Preserve, Repeatedly Emphasizing Its Importance Among the Other Prayers

بَابُ ذِكْرِ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِالْمُحَافَظَةِ عَلَيْهَا عَلَى التَّكْرَارِ وَالتَّأْكِيدِ بَعْدَ دُخُولِهَا فِي جُمْلَةِ الصَّلَوَاتِ الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِالْمُحَافَظَةِ عَلَيْهَا،

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1335

Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said during the Battle of the Trench: "May Allah fill the graves and homes of those polytheists with fire, just as they kept us occupied from the middle prayer until the sun set."

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جنگ احزاب میں فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ اُن مشرکوں کی قبروں اور اُن کے گھروں کو آگ سے بھرے جیسے اُنہوں نے ہمیں درمیانی نماز سے مشغول کیے رکھا حتّیٰ کہ سورج غروب ہو گیا۔“

Sayyidina Ali Radi Allahu Anhu Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se riwayat karte hain keh aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne jang ahzab mein farmaya: "Allah Ta'ala un mushrikon ki qabron aur un ke gharon ko aag se bhare jaise unhon ne hamen darmiyaani namaz se mashgool kiye rakha hatta keh sooraj ghuroob ho gaya."

نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، نَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ هِشَامًا ، نَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَوْمَ الأَحْزَابِ:" مَا لَهُمْ؟ مَلأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا، كَمَا شَغَلُونَا عَنِ الصَّلاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ"

Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said on the Day of the Battle of the Trench, "May Allah fill the hearts of these disbelievers and their graves with fire, just as they kept us occupied from the middle prayer."

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جنگ خندق والے دن فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ ان کافروں کے دل اور ان کی قبروں کو آگ سے بھر دے جیسے انہوں نے ہمیں درمیانی نماز سے مشغول کیے رکھا ـ“

Sayyidna Ali Radi Allahu Anhu farmate hain ke Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne jang khandaq wale din farmaya: "Allah Ta'ala in kafiron ke dil aur in ki qabron ko aag se bhar de jaise inhon ne hamen darmiyani namaz se mashgul kiye rakha"

نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ: " مَلأَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا كَمَا شَغَلُونَا عَنْ صَلاةِ الْوُسْطَى"

Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The disbelievers preoccupied us from the middle prayer, the afternoon prayer, may Allah fill their graves, or he said: their houses, with fire." In the narration of Al-Ash'aj it states: "May He fill their houses and their graves with fire," then you (the Prophet), peace and blessings be upon him, prayed (the afternoon prayer) between the two twilights. Janab Sulaim added these words "between Maghrib and Isha (he prayed the afternoon prayer)."

سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ان کافروں نے ہمیں درمیانی نماز، نماز عصر سے مشغول کر دیا تھا، اللہ تعالیٰ ان کی قبروں یا فرمایا کہ ان کے گھروں کو آگ سے بھر دے۔“ جناب الاشج کی روایت میں ہے کہ ان کے گھروں اور ان کی قبروں کو آگ سے بھر دے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے (عصر کی نماز) دو عشاؤں کے درمیان پڑھی۔ جناب سلم نے ان الفاظ کا اضافہ کیا ہے کہ مغرب اور عشاء کے درمیان (نماز عصر پڑھی)۔

Sayyidina Ali Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "In kafiron ne humain darmiyani namaz, namaz Asr se mashgool kar diya tha, Allah Ta'ala in ki qabron ya farmaya keh in ke gharon ko aag se bhar de." Janab al-Ash'aj ki riwayat mein hai keh in ke gharon aur in ki qabron ko aag se bhar de, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne (Asr ki namaz) do ishaon ke darmiyan parhi. Janab Sulaim ne in alfaz ka izapha kiya hai keh Maghrib aur Isha ke darmiyan (namaz Asr parhi).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ شَكَلٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " شَغَلُونَا عَنْ صَلاةِ الْوُسْطَى صَلاةِ الْعَصْرِ، مَلأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ، أَوْ قَالَ: بُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا" ، وَقَالَ الأَشَجُّ:" بُيُوتَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَيْنَ الْعِشَاءَيْنِ"، زَادَ سَلْمٌ:" بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ"

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "The middle prayer is the 'Asr prayer."

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”درمیانی نماز، نماز عصرہے۔“

Sayyidina Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: Darmiyani namaz, namaz Asr hai.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، نَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الصَّلاةُ الْوُسْطَى صَلاةُ الْعَصْرِ"
