It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in the prayer of fear. One row stood in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and one row stood behind him. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed one rak'ah with two sajdahs for those who were standing behind him. Then they moved forward and stood in their place, and those who were in front moved back and stood in their place. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed one rak'ah for them and made them perform two sajdahs. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ended the prayer (after the tashahhud). Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs and those behind him prayed one rak'ah each.

سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں نماز خوف پڑھائی، ایک صف آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے کھڑی ہو گئی اور ایک صف آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے کھڑی ہو گئی۔ لہٰذا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اُن لوگوں کو جو آپ کے پیچھے کھڑے تھے، ایک رکعت دوسجدوں کے ساتھ پڑھائی، پھر یہ لوگ آگے بڑھ کر اُن کی جگہ کھڑے ہو گئے اور وہ آکر اُن کی جگہ کھڑے ہو گئے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اُنہیں بھی ایک رکعت پڑھائی اور دو سجدے کرائے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے (تشہد کے بعد) سلام پھیر دیا، اس طرح آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی دو رکعت اور اُن کی ایک ایک رکعت ہوگئی ـ
Sayyidina Jabir bin Abdullah Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne unhen namaz-e-khauf padhai, ek saff aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke samne khadi ho gayi aur ek saff aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke peechhe khadi ho gayi. Lihaza aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne un logon ko jo aapke peechhe khade thay, ek rakat do sajdon ke sath padhai, phir yeh log aage badh kar unki jagah khade ho gaye aur wo aakar unki jagah khade ho gaye to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne unhen bhi ek rakat padhai aur do sajde karaye, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne (tashahhud ke baad) salaam phair diya, is tarah aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ki do rakat aur unki ek ek rakat ho gayi.
نَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقُطَعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى بِهِمْ صَلاةَ الْخَوْفِ، فَقَامَ صَفٌّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَصَفٌّ خَلْفَهُ، فَصَلَّى بِالَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ هَؤُلاءِ حَتَّى قَامُوا مَقَامَ أَصْحَابِهِمْ، وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ حَتَّى قَامُوا مَقَامَ هَؤُلاءِ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، فَكَانَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَانِ وَلَهُمْ رَكْعَةٌ"
